Big East January '26 Thread - Take Two

Tough loss for the Hoyas. A controversial call at the end of regulation that was ruled no basket was like pouring salt on a wound for them.

Perfect outcomes for Big East last night!

Creighton
St. John's
UConn
Villanova

Need the top 5 to keep winning and avoid losses to the bottom 6...

Don’t look too much into Providence, they’re very talented but horribly coached so motivation likely dictates how they play on a given night. Remember that they beat St. John’s on the road before our game.

Textbook definition of lack of institutional control...

“It’s out of my hands. All I was told was four days ago, look for another general manager,” Pitino said. “They said to me, don’t ask any questions. It’s really not a big deal. What’s a big deal is making sure that we don’t lose anything. But that’s a university decision, I’ll abide by it. They didn’t ask for my opinion and I didn’t give it.

Highly variable.

Creighton does not play good enough defense to beat us.

I think Creighton kind of sucks. I think their defense sucks, and they look slow, without good enough shooting to compensate.

McDermott is just doing a great job, especially after losing his best player for the season.

Eyeball test so far…Providence has significant talent. They seem to refuse to defend without fouling at needless moments.
