We are not a great offensive team, so we are not superior to Providence. Do I think we are better, Yes
I never said we were a great offensive team, so please don’t misrepresent what I wrote. Superior means better. Stop with the semantics because you aren’t making a point with your post. All you’re doing is trying to discredit mine without any backup. And since you haven’t provided any evidence to back your counter-statement, I will, based on the numbers:

UConn: 79.7ppg Providence: 70.4ppg
Margin of victory: UConn 15.4 PC: 6.3
FG%: UConn: 44.3% PC: 44.6%
3pt%: UConn: 35.9%. PC: 33.5%
FT%: UConn: 74.5%. PC: 73.4%
RPG: UConn: 42.2. PC: 36.9
Reb marg: UConn: 8.0 PC: 3.5
Opp FG%: UConn: 38.6 PC: 40.2

You forgot the most important numbers:
PC: 16-2, UConn 13-5
Providence wins close games

You have to be joking, right?
Oh man, that’s cute. You guys think beating us without sanogo and Martins first game back in a month meant you guys are really good. Your guys start must have you drunk of nostalgia for that one tournament win dream season you had.

Seems an irrelevant sniping. A fully veteran PC squad is better in December + January than a younger developing UCONN. I think we regularly make our mark in March.

What’s cute is that you think a fan base is scared of a home game against a conference foe. Nice to see the arrogance returned to the fan base with your move back to the BE.

Really? Another we are scared post? Too funny. I was merely predicting it’s the next place we will play.
Fair assessment! I’d love to see Sanogo v. Watson.

I find it a sad statement of affairs that Providence is even considered a rival. When the Big East was a legit conference Providence was a midweek game Uconn used to to prepare for a bigger game later that week. Outside of a couple seasons when did UConn ever even notice Providence was on the schedule?

Providence is doubtful a "rival" right now, but with all that other nonsense in the post, it's hard to tell!

UConn is 29-19 vs PC all-time in the NBE/OBE
which means UConn wins 6 out of 10
Certainly not doormat material
Being the states share a border and also a long-time New England rivalry, I would classify them to be a rival.
PeeCee was one of the games old timers like me always looked forward to.

He's probably too young to realize that UConn used to be an afterthought for many schools in the BE. Like Cuse, Georgetown, and SJU. Now look around. The point is, things change.

Providence is a rival more for geographic reasons than anything else.

I get all the good natured Providence ribbing and I think ultimately we will be the better team this season but Cooley has done a great job so far this year and I think they deserve to be ranked higher currently. We should have been playing them regularly when in the ACC. I like it when both teams are good. I may not root for Providence but it's easy to cheer for Cooley.

Or to oblivious to see what Cooley has done for the program.

When he took over it was pure crap. Lowest of the low. 2 players tried, convicted, and sentenced for felony assault on a fellow student, for kicks apparently. Terrible grades, No fundraising, worst facilities, and a small season ticket base. Oh and the team sucked as well. Frankly, they were a complete laughingstock. The man, with help from the AD and the President of the school, flipped every single thing I mentioned completely around. Now 2,000 out of 4,000 total students have season tickets (the max amount). Fundraising at record levels every year, kids are all graduating, his players are fine young men, facilities as good as anywhere, and finally the team is competitive and the program and coach are respected nationally. If UConn fans don't care about playing PC, then I think it's their loss because it's more fun when we are all good.

That is what he has done for the program.

Blah blah blah.

Providence is a team that we don’t really care about beating as much as we care about losing too. It’s still embarrassing to most of the fan base when we lose to PC. I wouldn’t say it’s a rivalry. It is what it is.

Ah, the fight that spilled over from Prime Time Cafe. Man do I have some stories about that place and the Foxy Lady next door.

Cooley has done a great job at Providence and he's a really likable guy.

That was a VERY long time ago. Things do change. But UConn becoming dominant was more like a paradigm shift. Those don’t happen often.

So you're saying fellow students beat the crap out of basketball players for fun now?
