Willard never got near the Final Four at Seton Hall and was on the verge of being fired by Maryland so I’m sure he’ll be hoisting trophies in Philly before long. Another guy who has been around a long time. Good not great coach. Sweet 16 ceiling guy.


Agee on Holloway. Johnnie’s should grad him but they’ll more likely look for someone who will make the back page rather than win basketball game

I never liked Cooley and my feelings were solidified when I watched the documentary done on him shortly before he announced he was leaving for Georgetown.
Syrupy sweet drivel about his love for PC and Providence, how an elderly black man and his wife took him into their home in Providence when he was in middle school or high school and guided him through his early life, including convincing him to stay in college when he thought about quitting in his freshman year.
The frosting on the cake was when they showed his pretentious home in Providence and juxtaposed it with video of him visiting the elderly black man and his wife in their very modest home while mentioning they were losing it or almost lost it due to finances yet there was no mention of Cooley helping them in any way. He seemed to only stop by for the video of Ed's success to include showing the man who helped shape his life and kept him focused on the right thing to do.............stay in school and make something of himself.

Better than a few years prior when it was 1,200 but man what a bummer IMO. Nothing I would love more is to see GT and SH back near the top.

Which season was that? The attendance has never been that low.

Imagine what he could do with Repole's money...but Repole won't fire Pitino yet...maybe after another bad year, but not yet

I dunno, especially if he doesn't make the dance. He's not building anything. He's spending a ton of dough and it seems like hiring a new bunch of mercenaries each year doesn't lead to team cohesion. They went for shock and awe and got cheap heat without the corresponding W's. Time to try a new approach if he doesn't make a tourney run.

you might be right...but Repole was big on Pitino...he was pissed Pitino wasn't the choice when they hired Anderson, so I doubt he gives up this early...especially with Ricks BE run last year

I think that the current model for an athletic department is very, very different than it was pre House and NIL, and the motivations are all over the place. The LSU firing of Brian Kelly, where he basically got himself fired in midseason by telling the athletic department to buzz off, then they tried to make the firing for cause after they had already fired him, then they just regular fired him, shows that there is a lot of "who the fudge knows?" with the athletic department decisions.

Even last year ended poorly. Pitino benched his leading scorer in the NCAA's and they both traded shots after the game. That's not a sign of a healthy program.

We know that Georgetown counts ticket sold where most schools like PC count turnstile. There have been many games where Georgetown is saying there were 5,000 in attendance when there couldn't be more that 1,000 people in attendance. Nothing must drive Cooley and his massive ego crazier than to know he has not been able to change that. He thinks he was the reason PC has such a rabid fan base.

He must have missed the most important part of getting fans to show up: win games
 
That was an absolutely brutal second half by English as his team probably played their best game of the season and still blew a 12 point lead with 7:30 left against a Top 5 team.
