BIG 12 25-26

Some ranked teams in action tonight in the Big 12. Someone is going to come out of the TTU roadie at WVU at 4-0 and in sole possession of first place. ISU travels to last place Cincy but might be without Addy Brown who is listed as "questionable". TCU should handle their game.

And the Devils host UCF with a 6:00 p.m. tip on ESPN Plus. Molly Miller squad looks to rebound from their lost BYU with some home cooking.

Also looking for McKinna Brackens to bounce back from a tough game against the Cougs.

This is got to be a tough road trip for UCF with a long flight into Phoenix.

Cincy giving Iowa State all they can handle and are up 51-48 at the end of the 3rd!

Didn't realize that the Bearcats star recruit had missed all of the nonconference and is only now back but on restricted minutes.

Iowa State about to go down to Cincinnati (5-10 overall, 0-3 in conference). Really awful loss.

I just turned it on and Iowa State also lost Jackson to what looks like an ankle or knee injury, couldn’t put any weight on it on the way out. Hope it isn’t serious.

Bad time and score management is one of my pet peeves and Iowa State has been terrible down the stretch. 2-3 minutes to go, they go for the steal initially, then defend the full possession and commit an unnecessary foul with less than 10 seconds left on the shot and put Cincinnati on the line. Back to back possessions. They basically allowed them to drain the clock and give up free points at the line. Either foul quickly or don’t foul at all. Once the shot clock is under 20, just play straight up.

A Charmin soft nonconference didn't really prepare Iowa State for conference play. No Addy Brown but even the last place team in the conference is still a road game and tougher than the cupcake diet they dined on in December. They played like crap but Cincy, other than all of their turnovers, really did play a good game and I have to give them a tip of the hat.

Utah moved to 3-1 in the Big 12 w/ a road win against Kansas. I thought the Utes were gonna be way down this year, but maybe I underestimated them.

With Iowa State down two starters, and no timeline for their return, you can pretty much put the Cyclones in the lower middle of the Big 12 now. Last couple of games without Addy Brown shows how important she was to keeping the Audi Crooks show going. They don't really have a sub for her, or guard AJ Jackson. fO course not a lot of Big 12 teams can lose a probable first-teamer and find a sub off the bench to just slot in. We realistically have no shot at hosting in March now, let alone challenging for the title. In a three-way tie for 9th.

Big 12 tonight. TCU @ WVU and Baylor @ Utah have title implications. Both teams favored by a basket or so.

Sad, but unless Clones get Brown and/or Jackson back they are in serious danger of missing the tourney. Bill needs to show he's a real coach.

After the Colorado loss they are trending to bubble team again. I am not optimistic in the short term until they show something. Any team would have trouble replacing two starters but the touted "depth" of ISU doesn't really match up to the reality. The bench players aren't nearly as good as the Cyclone fan base thinks they are.

Did you notice a loss in energy by Audi in that 2nd half? Sick? Loss of spirit? My imagination?

High altitude in part. She played a season high 37 minutes which seems odd since she needs breaks in regular games not played in thinner air in less minutes and didn't get many breaks when playing at altitude. Maybe I should say "take breaks" because she takes herself in and out of games herself (pretty unprecedented).

Everyone has issues playing at Colorado to a certain extent, it's a real advantage for them at home. Buffs are 10-1 at home and 2-5 away from Boulder. Ali Tanke came in and played most of the 4th quarter and looked totally gassed after 5 minutes. I've never thought being in top shape has ever been a priority at ISU. Like old school that lifting (especially lifting!) and running will make you a bad shot or something. The difference in fitness level of Bridget Carleton in the WNBA compared to at ISU is striking. Lynx announcers like to talk about the difference in her fitness level now as compared to her rookie year.

45 minutes to tip Desert Financial Arena as the devil's host The jayhawks. ASU is an underdog in this game and Kansas is an offensive minded squad with two sharpshooters that the devils are going to have to be focused on. Nichols is average almost 20 points a game and freshman forward Davis as averaging 21 points in 8 games.

This is going to be a real challenge but I think it's a winnable game and certainly one that'll make a huge difference as the Sun Devils prepare for the meat of the conference season. This is a character game that will demonstrate Molly Miller's ability to get the team to rebound from a real beat down at TCU.

15 seconds Kansas commits a flagrant 1. On the possession they foul the shooter and with a 4-0 lead never look back in a 67-51 win. Great defensive effort holding Davis in check. Nichols goes down with an injury on the 2nd quarter.

Super effort by ASU bench in front of a large crowd

Come on Sun Devils! I am rooting hard here for you- DONT LET ME DOWN!

It’s hard to imagine any team handling the loss of a player of Brown’s quality without a major drop off. She’s very good. I’m a big Audi Crooks fan, but I think they could withstand her loss easier than the loss of Brown.

Ok my fine @azfan, I have to do a mea-culpa and apologize for the ultimate Arizona gaff as I thought ASU was playing TCU when it was really the “little kittties” from the “Dirty T”….meanwhile ASU is beating Kansas. My humble apologies

No worries... I actually took your post literally. In any event the kitties did play TCU pretty good for 3 quarters. More importantly the Devils rebounded well from their loss to TCU and out played the Jayhawks in Tempe in their 16-point victory scoring 40 points in the first half which says more about the Jayhawk defense than it does about the Sun Devil offense. With this momentum there's a 50/50 shot ASU wins out January.

Molly Miller is amazing!!!!!

Since it's 1° outside in Mpls I'll probably tune in to see if Cyclones can put a stop to their current losing streak today on FOX or if the death spiral continues. Bad news is with Crooks/Brown combining for 43 pts and 20 rebs they still lost in Stillwater last season and we will be rolling out a weaker roster than that at noon today.

Will be interesting to see if Cowgirls just play to give Crooks her 30-something and focus on shutting down the rest or if they double the post (or combo platter like Baylor did and mix it up).

Sidebar: Cyclone WBB fans call giving the post her points and trying to stop the others the "Appel Defense" In the NCAA we tried that versus Jayne Appel. It was a miserable and complete farce with Appel scoring 46 pts and Stanford winning by 20.
