OT: Best Sports quote

”He may not be in a class all by himself, but it don't take long to call the roll”

or maybe

“I don't mind people thinking I'm stupid, but I don't want to give them any proof.”

I think his wife traveled with him to away games and when he was asked why, he responded that she was too ugly to kiss goodbye. Don’t know if that actually happened but imagine saying that about your wife…

Yeah, but I think Bum was telling it straight. Look at the mug on Wade

“The greatest motivator in the world is your ass on the bench. Ass meets bench, bench retains ass, ass transmits signals to the brain, brain transmits signals to the body, body gets ass off bench and plays better. It's a hell of a sequence.” - Bobby Knight
My Favorite Knight quote:

The key is not the 'will to win'...everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important."

Coach Knight was all about preparation and held tight to the notion that practice is just as important as the game.

Yogi Berra, when he was playing in the shadows in left field at Yankee Stadium: "It gets dark early out there."

I like his “ I want it put on my gravestone he played the Pittsburgh Steelers ( 1970’s) 6 times in two years “

Anything by Yogi is gold, I like this one.
The future ain’t what it used to be.
A couple more:

"When you get to the fork in the road, take it".

On explaining the sun problem in left field in Yankee stadium in October:

"It gets late early out there"

An NBA beat reporter told me the Barkley story over a couple beers. No clue where it truly originated but it would suck if he poached it.
The Steinbrenner quote is plagiarized from the SAC motto too. It’s attributed to the loony LeMay.

Derek Bell of the Pirates was asked about the competition for his right field position. He said, "What competition?... If it is [a competition], then I'm going into 'Operation Shutdown'".
