I suppose you could but the guy who invented the sandwich put on salami. As much as I love it, I don't think cappicola has a strong enough flavor to come through or the texture I want on that sandwich. Guess I'm going to have to order one asap to find out.

Do they still make a kiiler meatball grinder? That used to be one of my go-tos if i was in the area.
Their meatball grinder is primo. Worth a trip from anywhere. If they are still open, they still make them.

Yeah, there are so many great choices that there is no reason to settle for anything less than great.

The "best" is usually the one I'm eating at that moment.

One of my faves and most frequent purchases is the Chicken Flag from P&M in New Haven: Chicken cutlet, fresh mozz., tomato, basil, salt, pepper & olive oil on focaccia bread.

I was expecting some really controversial statement like a hotdog recommendation after that first sentence. Is there anyone on earth that wouldn’t consider a grinder a sandwich?

yes, there is a correct answer -micky d's mcdouble. 2 set u back around 4 bucks, and with a free water tossed in, ur aboot as good as a gaffney free throw. widely and easily available, and 100% consistent, whether you grab it in new paltz, new-ark, or new haven. and don't come at me with 'a burger is not a sandwich' cuz two pieces of bread with stuff in between is a sammich. long ago, fortuna's had one called 'the Conquering Hero.' sometimes, we'd skip mickys to get that, when we had all afternoon to eat it, digest it, and try to walk again.

Went their last week for the first time. 5 cutlets piled on top of each other with cheese and sauce on top. Had a half grinder for 7.50. They could have sold it for twice that and i would have understood.
My kid had a sausage grinder I think and he loved that as well.

La Teresita Restaurant in tampa. Off of Columbus.​

My abuela lived 3 blocks. Could almost see the bucs stadium and the Yankees summer campus. Some would say the
Columbia Restaurant was the best..

Rustic French bread
Black forest ham
Slightly warm goat cheese so it spreads
Tomato thin sliced
Arugula with seasoned garlic oil.
Pickled red onions
Mustard with slight amount pickled liquid.

Then pressed

Well if we're leaving CT, I think the three best sandwiches in the country are all in New Orleans:

Cochon de Lait Po-Boy at Jazzfest (from Love at First Bite)

Muffuletta from Central Grocery

Le Pig Mac from Cochon Butcher (which also makes a killer Cubano)

Since we seem to be completely blowing up the whole "in Connecticut" part of this, I'll add the La Nonna Panini at Tino's Deli on Arthur Ave. You have to like Garlic, but I still have not yet topped that sandwich. It's phenomenal.

My favorites in the Tampa Bay Area are West Tampa Sandwich, Stone Soup in Ybor, and Bodega in St. Pete.

had this earlier today delicious. Neapolitan panini in pizza oven. Chicken cutlet, fresh mozz, lettuce, tomato, bacon with a pesto aioli and the crust was drizzled with evoo and pecorino Romano and herbs

You can’t share that pic and not mention where it’s from!! :D
