Nuzzo's of Madison all the way, with Ray's in Niantic coming in at number two. The top five rounds out with Ash Creek (Bridgeport), Pepe's (any of them, they're all good), and Little Rendezvous (Meriden).
It was a pizza place. Sadly I just found out "was" is appropriate as they've closed. What the hell is Ash Creek(Bridgeport)?
Never heard of it, and I've lived in the area for a long time, and thought I knew all of the pizza joints. It was a pizza place. Sadly I just found out "was" is appropriate as they've closed.
I haven't been there in nearly 20 years, so I'm not sure how long ago it was that they closed their doors.Never heard of it, and I've lived in the area for a long time, and thought I knew all of the pizza joints.
Here's the original thread.

Mau, I'm begging you to put your post in that thread and delete this one. Shouldn't it be considered Boneyard sacrilege to post anything about pizza outside this original thread?
This is bad karma. If the team stinks this year I'm blaming you!No time for that Hoop sorry.....it's out of control already lol

Salame piccante is a regular topping option at Bufalina in Guilford. They also presently have a seasonal pizza with wild boar salami. I love them both, and I think speck (which they also offer) is even better.
Sorry 'bout that. Yep, it's tiny and parking is tight. It's a very simple, modest place, which is part of the charm imo; but I can see how someone expecting a destination might be disappointed. Surprised you didn't like the pie if you liked what you read about it, but it's probably not for everyone. We went there. That place is tiny. At night, we had trouble to find it even with the address in our GPS. Parking was a problem. Despite the glowing report from the NYT, we were really disappointed.
There's this place called Carminuccio's in Newtown. Supposedly, Gourmet Magazine named them one of the top ten in the country. I'm not sure they are among the top ten in Newtown.
Unless I hit it on a historically bad day, the only poll they could come out in the top 10 in, is a poll of the owner's family. It wasn't impressive at all. I wouldn't even call it pedestrian.
I had never been to Modern before but will definitely be back. I'm gonna give it a couple more trial runs before I commit to this statement, but it might have been the best clam pizza I've ever had.
