I remember someone going off in an NIT game at the Civic Center. I think it was Trent Tucker. I may be wrong. My memory has been fading lately.
Yeah, he was making shots from The Russian Lady.

I'm amazed that took 43 posts. Thank you.

And if it's in the tourney, throw out performances while losing (who cares) and the two words that kept us from our first Final Four by having the game of his life will always haunt me -- Toby Bailey.

I met Jim Harrick at a bar on the beach in Majorca about twelve years ago. As soon as I realized who he was, the first sentence from my mouth was "I hate Toby duck*ing Bailey.
Yup. Damn Toby Bailey. And that damn Tyus Edney half court 3 to end the first half sucked as well. And of course UCLA won the championship.

Dejuan Blair with the Thabeet flip over the back in 2009. And I’m sure Brandin Knight cooked us at some point in 2002 or 2003.

Also, the guy from San Diego who hit the jumper at the buzzer in 2008.

Scottie Reynolds Villanova
This was mine. Felt like he played 6 years in college, I was there for 2 of them (I don’t even know how many there were).

My other is Hansbrough from ND. Kemba’s Senior day at Gampel.

I think I’m on something like a 15-1 in-person run ever since that game.

That’s the loudest game I’ve ever heard at the XL center. Me and a roommate had already graduated the year before, took a shot and bought student tickets off the streets and they scanned our student IDs and let us in.

Frosh (?) Berwanger BC center '74 NIT
1/4 final , short-ish near-buzzer beater, 2 secs, 76-75 after Jimmy Foster gave us 1 pt lead, 75-74

Berwanger died at 67 last year, in texas;
Played pro in France- his granddad 1st Heisman winner....( ?)

That game was more like the worst performance from a UConn coach, then a good performance from the opposing player.

Lindsey Hunter Killed us once in a 1993 home OT NIT loss. 39 points. i believe we had an incredible last minute comeback to get game to OT then lost.
yeah we lost to Jackson State...I was shocked, as I did not anticipate losing to such a lower-conference team that year.

He actually played in the NBA for 11 years so at least he was a good player who had a great game. Cannot remember if he was poorly defended, though.

Watching those 5:16 highlights feels surreal like being in an alternate universe watching Tristen Newton light it up against UConn. If someone told me a player on the court for that game would have their name posted on the wall in Gampel I would have guessed 1) James Bouknight or 2) Christian Vital. But I remember watching this game vividly and Newton playing well. I didn't know who the hell he was at the time.
