An amazing IPA from Kent's Falls Brewing. Has anchovy and vista hops. Candy in a glass.

.-.
There are CT brewers who make it so that no one has to seek out those two. Killer stouts are here.
I know I tried some Kinsmen at a tasting event or something. Seemed like good stuff. Good stuff from every New England state really.

I alluded to this happening earlier in the thread (and I think in another thread), but it's now official public knowledge about the UConn Brewing Innovation-Urban Lodge partnership taking over the closing Barnes & Noble space at Downtown Storrs. Not the best-written article in the Daily Campus, but here it is:

[Edit: there also were a couple articles towards the end of December, I was too busy with the holidays and preparing for Spring semester classes [I'm a prof at UConn] to notice those:

So that's a "it holds up?" I've had some amazing CT stouts, but never had one from Kinsmen, so just want to know what class they're in.

I'll just say that the head brewer was head brewer at Great Falls and went to Kinsmen. I cant get to Kinsmen enough. But, the brews are great.

Beer expert! I have been paralyzed by indecision and have not had a beer in weeks! Where hath you gone?!

I was in the lab, researching. Also, it’s kind of a pain to upload pictures because I always forget my password. Anywho…

Yes! This is excellent! Highly, highly recommend!

It’s by something called Sante Adairius Rustic Ales from California. Downside - she’s a spendy can of beer. I paid over $9 a can for this, but it was good enough for me to go back and get a four pack.

If you know you’re just going to drink one beer and you want to enjoy it, you can justify the price.

Bonus. I got a bunch of Christmas type beers in the hopper.

I don’t know what to say about this one. It’s Frog Nog. Frog Alley Brewing, Schenectady, New York. No idea what their distribution is like. I will say that it is a very interesting and creative take on a Christmas kinda flavor.

Cinnamon - check. Nutmeg - of course. Vanilla - sure.

Coconut…..what? No. Stop.

You kinda taste everything and then it has a coconut water aftertaste that I found just plain weird. Not bad, but not good. Glad I tried it because the can makes for a nice picture, but I won’t be buying it again.

From Narragansett’s site -

“We are thrilled to release our White Christmas Winter Warmer in collaboration with the estate of the legendary entertainer Bing Crosby and paying tribute to his iconic rendition of White Christmas. This brew is truly unique and was inspired by Bing Crosby’s everlasting contributions to the holiday season.”

Absolutely none of that is true. It’s really just unpleasant.

This is the second special ‘Gansett that I’ve tried. I had the pumpkin beer as well. It’s just Narragansett with a vague, almost impossible to detect spice aftertaste.

My advice - enjoy Naragansetts on the beach all summer and then forget they exist over the winter.

Did you pick this up at Half Time or DeCicco’s? Because I can’t imagine a regular package store carrying Sante Adairius. Vanilla Joe is a fantastic porter. And I’m not a porter guy. Great find, @Fishy!
