Nice. Weird that it is hazy/unfiltered. I was always a fan of the old Red Hook ESB, maybe inspired by a brewery visit in Seattle. I think it's a nice fall style, mild and malty.

Just the angle of the sun. This is the same beer once I got back inside the house…

From Little House Brewing Company in lil Chester CT...a Scotch ale clocking in at 10%abv. Innit...gingerbread cookies, ginger, cinnamon and vaniller.

Been forever since I’ve had a scotch ale. NEBCO Neighbor of the Beast at least 6-7 years. That’s a dark one you’re sipping. Rolling the dice with those adjuncts… how is it?

Too freakin' easy. Like a 7%. Will be great near the fire bowl.
I love a good Scotch ale. Will need to look for these. I traded for some Three Floyds many years ago when that's how you got it, and had some Robert the Bruce, their Scotch Ale. Fantastic stuff but it never makes its way here.

I was just coming here to post about Vue in Southington. I was in a local pub in Unionville and they had Vue’s Tarn in cans. A really nice English Brown and I see in their website they have an ESB in the hopper. They don’t have a taproom license, but you can buy beer to go. Glad to see English and Scotch ales making some headway in the IPA dominated landscape.

Speaking of English, I stoped by Transcend in Plainville on Sunday. Nice HUGE indoor space in an industrial park setting. Their Octoberfest was very nice and I had to take home a 4-pk of their Dark Mild. Only 3.5% but drinks a lot heavier.

At the taproom, you get a full pour when you buy a glass.

I’ve heard great things about Vue and I haven’t been to Transcend in what feels like a lifetime… pre-COVID when they were in Southington and had insanely odd hours and sold their cans from behind that counter. Need to get back up to that area for a little beer exploration.

From Beer'd...this used to be called "Hobbit Juice." The LOTR people said, "Nah!" and now here it is under a new name. Single-hopped with Nelson.

I’d like to see Beer’d brew a true hazy with a solid grain bill if they’re going to hop a DIPA with Nelson. They are still stuck in first-generation New England IPA mode. Nothing wrong with that, but when it’s not at a Heady or Focal Banger level, it’s not worth buying in place of better options.

Beer's is locked in on their staples. Nothing really new in a while in the IPA portfolio.

A former brewer is now head brewer at Twelve Percent in North Haven. He has his False Hope Brewing label. He brews excellent hazy IPAs and tasty stouts.

Thimble Island also avoided the super hazy IPAs.

The beer I pictured above I think turned. Beer #1 and #2 just didn't sit right. I always avoid the packy where I bought the 4-pack and I am kicking myself now.

Had no idea the False Hope guy used to be at Beer’d or that he is now the head brewer at 12%. I’m so detached from the CT scene these days compared to days of yore. False Hope’s hazies are very solid. Really love his stouts. Flavorful, decent body and very drinkable (although some have been overly sweet from the adjuncts).
