Schaffer out of a can, or a nice PBR on tap.
Well the best in state beer IMO is a hop monster so we have start there:
NEBC's Gandhi-Bot an incredible Double IPA which to me more than holds its own with the (overly?) lauded Heady Topper out of Vermont.

Have you tried Zapata-bot yet? It's REALLY good.
They cracked a barrel at Prime in New Haven a couple weeks ago. Really nice.

Olde Burnside Ten Penny Ale. Brewed in east hartford.
They are making fantastic beer at Stubborn Beauty Brewery in Middletown. The porter is especially good. Growlers only at this point and on tap at bars. Worth a trip for tastings.
I kid I kid.I had no idea you were so high brow, CT.
I have often found that when I really want more than just one beer I reach for Schaffer.Schaffer out of a can, or a nice PBR on tap.
I've always heard that it's the one beer to have when you're having more than one.I have often found that when I really want more than just one beer I reach for Schaffer.Schaffer out of a can, or a nice PBR on tap.

Yes, Gandhi Bot is excellent, and they changed their Sea Hag recipe in the past year or so for the better; but their special IPAs Fuzzy Baby Ducks and Supernaut are all-world level IPAs, and their session IPA, Galaxy, is great. Their stout and porter are also excellent. Two Roads is good, especially Lil Heaven session IPA. Also a very good Russian Imperial Stout. OEC is making outrageously good Belgians and other styles, especially their sour. For VT, the Waterbury area is insanely great. The Alchemist (Heady Topper--still great when fresh imo), Hill Farmstead and Lawson's are all top quality across their entire lines. Fiddlehead also very good. But you can't get any of these beers in CT. Magic Hat, Otter Creek and Long Trail have improved in recent years, but imo they are not remotely close to Hill Farmstead, Lawson's or the Alchemist.
