BC Pulling Out?!

B1G is more prestigious, academics, better money etc. But I don't think we'd ever compete athletically except for hockey. It just doesn't fit our recruiting footprint in hoops or football. I think we could thrive in the ACC and our fans and alums would be more likely to travel or even retire to an ACC metro or city to stay in touch with alumni and attend games. It's just a better fit. And yes we would go it's not even a close call. Should have been there already but now the pieces are in place to make a pretty strong case.

Besides Michigan and Ohio State, the BIG is sorta trash everywhere. UConn immediately makes them better in basketball and probably in football too cause some of those teams are embarrassing.

They don’t care.

Institutionally, BC is a better fit for the Big East than we are. That being said, we're a better fit for the ACC than they ever were.

Hmm. Interesting.

Can also make the argument that Boston College is not really a fit for an athletic conference. They appear to be entirely disengaged from athletics….might be a fit for the Patriot League.

I believe football will eventually have conference “affiliations” - i.e., pre-pro football, brought to you by The University of Alabama, an affiliate of the SEC. Heading towards two big conferences (likely the SEC & B10) comprising ~40-50 schools, with remaining programs essentially serving as independents & signing deals to play one another for extended periods.

It’s all about money & this is a very viable way for the NCAA, player NIL, conferences & top football programs to keep reeling in cash. I think UConn is ahead of the curve as an independent in football & the big east is a great basketball conference. We’re showing sizable improvement in both sports & have promising futures ahead. BC on the other hand…

Seriously. Like Temple before they got kicked out of the Big East.

We won’t interest them.

UConn is never joining the Big Ten.

Anyone else have any bad ideas that need smothering?
Chill, I never said they was as I was responding to the topic. So no idea need smothering here.

.-.
On a weak roll… reader beware:

Good God. If we got an ACC invitation we’d be out so fast your head would turn. Our state government made that clear originally when Pitt and Syracuse left.

But Muntz is 100% right on this. One day soon private schools may be pushed out of big time sports. But, to quote Aragorn in Return of the King, “But not this day.”
If BC is financially strained now, what would they be without the ACC TV contract?
Mora has really opened eyes at UConn with how extensive and specialized a football staff needs to be today. We were probably 20 years behind the times.
I would not like to be coaching a fringe men’s sport right now. Teams need so many bodies for football and with Tittle IX those teams will be up on the radar to get cut. The bigger travel footprints that conferences have today also factors into those decisions.
