A few points:
1. If in fact ESPN was working this behind the scene to our detriment our BCU Gov needs to revisit the sweetheart deal he just gave them with CT taxpayer money.
2. I don't think the success of Pitt basketball is so much about their NY recruiting as much as their style of play. The BE is a banging conference and Pitt has been the leader in that style of play. Will they be able to continue that style in the ACC, I don't think so. That problem surfaces every year when they get in the NCAA tournament. So the question for them is can they change their current style to one that will be allowed in the ACC and still be successful.
3. BCU - It should come as no surprise that they don't want us in the ACC. With the move to the ACC they are in a stable conference, for now, but their success has been limited and was in the early years when they were still playing with Big East players. Right now their major programs are in a state of decline. They have not competed nor have they been able to recruit players to keep them competitive. In business you don't fear competition. If you are strong competition makes you better and often benefits all involved. Why are McDonalds and Wendys always near each other?
Did you ever notice that when BCU fans talk about other programs it is never in the context of that programs positives as compared to BCU. They always trash the other program. BCU fears us, they know they will not be able to compete with us. Our move to the ACC would surely be their demise. GD's comments finally bring this out for the public to see. They will block us, success to be determined, with everything they have. They have no choice, they know that in the long run they cannot compete.
We are in for a bumpy road in the near term but I am confident we will be fine. We have too much to offer and have been around too long. Our basketball success needs no explanation. We need to remember we have only been playing big boy football for approximately 10 years and have 2 BE championships and a BCS bowl. Not bad for a newcomer.
