Huh? It isn’t a league without a ref… if there’s no ref it’s pick up basketball. The refs were so bad tonight.Hyperbole, hyperbole. Most local rec leagues don’t have officials.
Still fan voting for the Naismith. Is player of the year voted on b4 the tourney?
Very true. Nika on Didi bringing the ball up makes their offensive start farther away from the basket instead of at the foul line.It also showed how much UConn misses Nika!
This +100000000000.I think I have heard somewhere that one play does not decide a game.
Are all women’s games that poorly officiated? There are better refs at local rec leagues.
What???
Baylor lost because of bad calls? You need glasses because you didn't see a thing.Baylor lost by the barest of margin. They never should be in the same bracket as UConn. Baylor is a FF team. The seeding sucks. The officials are atrocious. I feel bad that one team has to lose due to bad calls.
I'd like to say though "In a world where you can be anything...be present. As Hunter Thompson once said, "Half of life is just showing up".Great game by Baylor!!! All of those players gave everything and heart breaks for Didi—I hope she heals quickly! I’m so happy for our team!!! So much to celebrate for now! But seriously...

She’ll be back for FF. Allows Edwards to come off the bench where I think we’re better suited. Either Indiana of AZ beckons the extra guard from us.I felt we really missed Nika in this game, I’m hoping to see her return.
we are also a significantly better team with Edwards in. She’s a complete game changer.
It doesn’t matter who starts, in big games both okay a lot of minutes for a reason..I’m hoping Nika is ready for the Final Four.
ESPN and Deb Antonelli confirmed the missed foul call. This is all they are going to talk about until Friday (and on Friday) to influence our next game??????????
Thinking she might have been too busy checking her watch.I kept waiting for Nalyssa to take charge...no idea why she was silent -
While it was unfortunate that DiDi was hurt during the 2nd half, let's not forget that UCONN was missing their point guard for the whole game. Muhl would have made a difference defensively & might have hit a couple of timely threes! The turning point was the unfortunate injury to DiDi Richards. Without that and temporary Baylor collapse that followed it, I feel fairly confident the game would've gone differently.
There's nothing surprising nor uniquely outrageous about the possible missed foul on Carrington's last shot. 1) The refs were giving the benefit of the doubt to contact all day - many instances of contact on shooters that could've been fouls. 2) Refs are known to swallow whistles toward the end of close games. It's incredibly rare for UConn to have possibly benefitted from one of these moments, but it happens a lot.
The best way to avoid the possibility of refs swallowing whistles to your detriment is not to be trailing toward the end of a close game. Had Baylor recovered more quickly from DiDi not being on the court, they would've probably gone on to the Final Four.
She made 3 of 6. She made her first two, missed two critical ones and then split her last two at the end of the game.Hard game to win....Williams making only 1 or 4 free throws not a good show. We won, but we were lucky.
Three seniors (one a grad student) and two juniors. An experienced, well coached team is always tough to beat.Baylor was way better than I thought they would be. A great competitor. Congratulations to the Bears on a fine season!
Right? AE is like that freighter it took them 7 days to remove from the Suez Canal.Same thing can be said about the frequent no calls for UCONN. AE ain't hitting the floor unless she gets whacked.
LeBron says it was a foul. Lol
She had to. No other Baylor player was really getting it done. Moon and Smith were below their normal levelCarrington tried to do too much by herself.
Agreed. Many terrible calls. Hope they put better crews out there in remaining games. Are all women’s games that poorly officiated? There are better refs at local rec leagues.
