Battle for Atlantis Tournament -- November 19-21

Well, Tennessee has twice as many FTA as UCLA, so can't be complaining about that.

edit--ended up 31-12 FTA and 26-16 personal fouls, both in favor of the Vols.

UCLA beats TN 80-63

UCLA went off from 3 all day and TN had a 2 to 1 turnover to assists ratio (Yes not assists to turnover ratio)
When you let a team go 16-30 from 3 you have a defensive problem.
You also get outrebounded 41-30 Tennessee is a bad team.

Oh dear. Looks like I may have to spend more time on Volnation later tonight.

I'm holding off on posting a certain chair dance meme because it would be a karma rule violation while UConn is playing.

This team does not seem dialed end defensively as previous teams. Rebounding for a team with Rickea, Horston, Key should be WAY better than this. Offense is too much 1 on 1, there is zero identify.

I've honestly tried to defend Kellie because she has challenged her team with this schedule but this on par with Holly ball so far. Frankly I think last years group was better despite not having nearly as much talent and depth.

Also this is a good lesson that more talent does not always equate to better/more wins. TN may end up getting it together down the road but you have to admit its been massively underwhelming so far.

Good grief..that’s as some of the worst three point defense I have ever seen in my life from Tennessee.

UConn wins!
Tennessee loses!
I dance on chairs!

Marquette has been leading most of the way but Zags up 1 w/ 5 minutes left. Looks like it could go down to the wire.

One of the Truong twins isn't playing today. Maxwell got the start and is having another solid game.

I forgot about Kiki Rice on UCLA’s roster. If she and Osborne are hitting, the Bruins are as good as anyone not named Stanford in the Pac12.

Can’t wait to see Rice and Juju Watkins in the BIG10 in a couple years. Sorry Nwhoops, Farmfan and the other west coast fans

Marquette wins! A very tight contest with Gonzaga, but held it together and made the plays down the stretch.

I'm more than happy to eat some partial crow for downplaying their win over Texas yesterday. :)

Last year Marquette had a very disappointing OOC, where they got blown out by Colorado and Georgia in their only two meaningful tests. Nice to see them flipping that script so far this season.

Marquette vs. UCLA for the Championship. I'm betting NOBODY called that matchup.
I was gonna say, I bet no one's bingo card had Texas, Louisville, and Tennessee going 1-3 so far.

(And does the one win even count if it's over Rutgers?)

(Sorry Rutgers fans, but at this point for y'all any publicity is good publicity.)

At halftime of the South Carolina and Stanford game
They said the same thing bad defense and rebounding, and terrible offense.
Holly part 2.

I didn’t watch the TN game but you can see the offensive struggles in the assists stat. Less than 2 assists/quarter says this team is not playing as a team.

The desperation and wailing over on their board is off the charts. They're actually pining for Andy Landers to come in, sign on as an assistant coach, back-bench it for Kellie, & save the season for them. Not making this up . . .
