Duffy is proving to be a good coach. Wonder how long Marquette can keep her.
In the words of Aunt Linda, "don't get too excited." Marquette didn't even make the NCAA tournament last year.

This is a nice win, but for me it signals more the weakness of Texas than the strength of their opponent. Data from this season is limited, but Marquette struggled to gain separation from Holy Cross.

Teams can have good days and bad days. The Texas team that played Uconn had a good shooting percentage. The fact that they lost today does not diminish uconn’s accomplishment. Marquette played well enough to pull off an upset.

What does not making the tournament last year have to do with this win? Funny, you posted how much you enjoyed a couple of Uconn fans’ providing post game “gems” reveling in that win but Marquettes should be downplayed because Texas is weak?

I was responding to a suggestion that Duffy is a hot commodity on the verge of being hired away. The mediocrity of last year's Marquette team is obviously germane to that point.

I'm flattered you've paid such close attention to my posts, but I'll need further explanation to understand how my appreciation of postgame summaries is irreconcilable with a sober assessment of Duffy's full resume.

Gonzaga giving Louisville a fight. 32-32 starting the 3rd. Hailey Van Lith with a miserable game so far.

Louisville is wasting a rare double figure scoring game by Robinson.

Looks like Maxwell had a nice game for Gonzaga. Seems odd to me that she left Utah after losing her starting spot to go to GU...where she's not a starter.

Ok, so @UcMiami posted that Marquette may not be able to retain Duffy which usually a coach needs a few years of dominance and/or a great NCAA run, neither of which Duffy has had. You then postulated that Marquette is a ”veteran team“ intimating they are seasoned and have demonstrated this skill in the past-they haven’t, they lost by 10 in the 3rd RD in the WNIT to powerhouse Toledo at home. So maybe “veteran intonation” means something entirely else to you that means upper class man who have not achieved success yet.

Now if this was talking about Jim Flannery and Creighton beating USD, SDSU and Nebraska with his veteran squad and the great run he had, then both you and Miami would both have good insight or concerns.

At the moment Megan Duffy is really our only hope to get a 4th BE team into the NCAAT at this early juncture so, yes I am rooting for her but she’s down on the “worry category” for me until she shows great success in the post season.

So when a coach has been at a school for 31 years (20 as HC) as Flannery has at Creighton one sort of assumes he is established and not going somewhere new. It is his program, he is anchored to the community, unless someone puts a horses head in his bed, he aint going anywhere.

Duffy is in her 4th year at Marquette and has a .747 winning percentage and .727 within the BE. Her record for her 2 years at Miami(OH) was .688. She is a good young coach and people do not expect coaches at 'second tier' schools to have post season success before they get hired elsewhere - Banghart got the UNC job having twice gotten Princeton to round two of the NCAAs in 12 years. I suspect Duffy would get interviews if she wants and if Marquette isn't 'taking care of her'.

another bad loss for Walz, hard to keep defending him.
I don’t think Gonzaga is a bad loss at all. The Zags are probably a top 30 team and Louisville is not as good as they’ve been in past years.

In the past 4 NCAA tournaments Louisville has made 2 Elite 8 games and 2 Final Fours. It’s not that hard to defend his results. He hasn’t won a championship yet but he’s not alone.

Happy for MU but feel like it makes our win less impressive. Makes me more worried about tomorrow.
Look at it this way, we didn't have Paige, Ice and Caroline only played 4 minutes. I call that an impressive win regardless who played or didn't play for Texas.
