Ball, Bray and Stew....

I dont know if other schools would make an offer with no visit but we need kids to come visit. Our facilities and hardware is our biggest selling point. If youre looking for head gardener at Versailles, I think they should come check out the grounds.
Our staff has a very specific strategy. Will set up zoom meetings, and see if there is a fit $$$ wise, and just as importantly personality wise. If they feel good there, will try and set up a visit.

I don't see Hurley just offering something on the spot without meeting unless it's a special circumstance.

Could def see solo having an all American level senior year if things come together for him. His shooting woes this season really overshadowed how much he improved all other aspects of his game last offseason. Given his approach, would expect him to to really improve again.

Yeah. And I prefer this way of operating. I follow a few schools pretty closely and it's interesting to see how differently they tend to move in general, especially in the portal.

Fun example from yesterday. IU got a commit from Bryce Lindsey from Nova completely out of nowhere. He was close to committing to USC. According to Eric Bossi, it all came together literally within 24 hours entirely remotely. Apparently IU's staff "got word" he could still be available, watched the tape, spent the next day full court pressing him on Zoom and got it done without him stepping foot on campus. Had an existing relationship with one of their assistants. They just hired a GM from the Pacers FO and their fans think that's how they "got word" ... because of his agent connections.

Now, Indiana had 9 spots to fill and Lindsey is not exactly a world beater. Not sure how fans should feel about the idea of giving out roster spots to guys you assess in a span of less than 24 hours. But when you have that many spots to fill, I guess you do what you have to do build a team and hope it can compete.

I like the way Hurley and staff operate.

The portal has done two things to the world of college basketball - it makes everyone a one year player and a free agent annually, and, it makes loyalty and multi year commitments nearly non existent,
There no longer is any guaranties to players and to teams.
It's definitely interesting and my thought process has evolved with more exposure to how things are done nowadays. I used be like "he's transferring again? Didn't he just transfer?" Intuitively it didn't make sense. I suppose I had just been conditioned to what just seemed normal. Now there is a new normal. Money and rule changes seem to be the reason. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Are we really worried about Solo not returning? The guy has Husky tattoos all over his body…lol. I would say he’s pretty committed.
Bro. Madison Avenue took care of solo and the whole basketball department. St. John’s has to be the only local threat, but wait. They have no clue how to market themselves. The fact that all the portal guys aren’t looking to us is crazy. We were the biggest attraction this post season by commercials alone. I’m in NC. Both men and women’s teams and players had more ads than the boozers. In NC!!!! That is power. And that is influence. I think we can get anyone we want.

Nik/Freeman/Hines could fill up the 4/5 spots from a playing time standpoint. Meaning no minutes for Landrew playing any 4.

The bigger issue is NIL allocation for those 3 which would be a problem for NIL retention on guys who may come back.
