I wouldn't worry about that happening.
Seriously, for that to happen the requisite "bridge" would be UConn.

Yes!!! This to the second power. Purdue & Northwestern are worthless from an athletics standpoint. They wouldn't even be missed except IU/Pur basketball games and a fun trip to Chicago. I think the rest of the schools either 1. Bring a whole state with them or 2. Stand on their own two feet as is the case with Sparty. There is no question for UConn. Delaney with this deal has basically stated who he wants if the B1G expands again. The schools that are there just collecting a paycheck and not contributing to the league will soon become a issue for schools like tOSU and UM.
That would be a GREAT conference...unfortunately as much as I would love to see UConn in the B1G this new tv deal is a game changer. As @Dooley has said on here several times at $30 Mill UConn can make a case...at $50 mill UConn can't make a case.Yes!!! This to the second power. Any number of schools would do a better job of adding value and expand the league into new territory. I think the upper limit for the league is 20 and without hesitation I'd say the following schools are in (after the grant of rights and if interest is mutual): Texas, Virginia, Carolina, Georgia Tech, a Florida School (either FSU or Miami).
That only leaves one slot, However if we could extricate ourselves from the aforementioned league parasites then the last three slots would be available for some combination of Duke, Oklahoma, Kansas, Connecticut, and Notre Dame.
Given Notre Dame's insistence on independence... I think they are out.
3/4 odds ain't bad.

I will go berserk if ND strong-arms the B1G to take BC with them.
BC has a hard enough time winning football & basketball games in the ACC...can you imagine them playing in the B1G.We're not joining, they will have to make it on their own merits. No way they add 50-60 million dollars’ worth of value.

RU isn't even in the same inept league as BC right now. BC reminds me of DePaul, Seton Hall and PC in the BE. They stand there with hand open waiting for that big check to be placed in it and do absolutely nothing to contribute to the funds distributed in that check. You could witness the battle of ineptitude every year between Rutgers and BC.

That is a GREAT analogy! Can't be put any better than that!Agree. You can argue that Rutgers is trying to better itself on and off the playing field - High Point renovations, looking into building a new basketball arena, grabbing Ash from Ohio State etc.
BC is literally sitting there doing nothing. Haven't invested a dime in their facilities in years and have made one incompetent hire after another in Football and Basketball.
BC hit the lottery in 2004 and have been drawing a trust fund check every month ever since while sitting around and not working.

Watch ESPN as a force of habit? Sure. Only to tune in to Olberman and Patrick on Sportscenter! Wait a minute..... They left years ago. So to did ESPN viewership. The better question is who in the hell watches ESPN anymore? Outside of Uconn ganes, I haven't watched in years. Not because I don't follow sports but because their on air talent is unwatchable. In fact, if UConn played its games on another network I would get rid of it entirely. As force of habit, I think people will continue to watch ESPN. This would be great for the AAC. ESPN can basically make it a power conference by saying it is one. They'd need to put more games on ABC in order to give it an additional boost, but they could pull it off. If we are stuck in the AAC, this could be good news for exposure and money.

I doubt it, but I do see them as being viewed a less valuable property should the ACC fail.BC takes the conference money and refuses to invest in athletics. There may become a day when the schools that invest in coaches and facilities feel that they are carrying the weight while only getting the same return that BC gets.
Temple got the boot at one time...maybe BC can get the same. FSU fans burn candles and and say a daily prayer that it might become so (current thread on premium Warchant).

ESPN is easily the most popular cable sports network still. AAC games that draw 1m+ viewers on ESPN likely wouldn't get half that on FS1 or NBCSN. Look at our games on CBSSN vs ESPN/2 and its obvious
If the ACC fails BC may be bound for the AAC. Especially when there is another school in New Emgland that actually puts money into sports/facilities.I doubt it, but I do see them as being viewed a less valuable property should the ACC fail.

BC and UMass should make for a nice AAC rivalry to compliment UCF/USF
If the ACC never gets a network off the ground there is literally no value to Boston College in the state they are in today.
They were brought in for the purpose of bringing New England eyeballs to ACC sports. The problem is that without a network that they can push New Englanders to buy subscriptions to, their is no monetary benefit to having BC in the existing TV deal as their athletics have been such a horror show that ESPN isn't giving their games any real exposure, therefore no eyeballs in the New England region.
In the mid-2000s when BC still had halfway decent football and basketball programs you could point to gate #s, bowl/NCAA tournament revenue and decent TV ratings as a reason to keep them around.
But those days are long gone.
I think @billybud is right and that eventually FSU & Co. are going to get sick of watching BC cash the same paycheck they get while doing absolutely nothing to increase the value of the ACC brand.
Will BC turn it around? Maybe. They have a pretty rabid alumni base who remembers Eagles teams of past who were decent, but the current administration needs to be tossed out first. It's a dire situation right now up there.
