I am enjoying this.

It’s 2 am on the east coast and Rutgers is being blown out 3,000 miles from home in an empty stadium. Oh, and it’s still the third quarter so RU fans have about 40 more minutes of this before they can go to bed.

All very much true..............and we are still watching the game, which is the entire point Fox made this an 11pm Friday night start time for the East Coast.

No, no one watched that game on the east coast.

Some people straggled over to it after the UNLV-Boise game, but that game was drawing test pattern numbers otherwise

It could be worse............did anyone see the HOMECOMING crowd at Stanford where they hosted Wake Forest? It made USC/Rutgers look like a packed house.

This article blames the poor performance of former PAC-12 schools on travel. I'm not sure I agree with that.

1. Oregon is undefeated. If they can do it, so can the other PAC-12 schools, at least the traditionally strong football schools.
2. Olympic sports for the West Coast schools seem to be performing really well. And those schools travel even more than the football teams due to number of games played. USC and UCLA Olympic sports are doing well in the B1G. Stanford is doing well in the ACC.

The arguments outside of travel from the article I agree with. The PAC schools in the B1G need to adapt to the big beefy players in the B1G. That is true. But travel, I'm not buying it. USC and UCLA are the top two teams in women's soccer in the B1G and playing for the outright regular season title on Sunday. The volleyball teams are doing well.

I'm curious as to what type of crowd LSU drew for Nicholls St. What Alabama drew against Western Kentucky, Georgia against Tennessee Tech.

Within the B1G I imagine Michigan and Ohio St would draw a larger home crowd against their weakest/lowest profile opponent than USC would draw at home against their strongest/highest profile opponent.

I agree, but Los Angeles has more sports options than the schools you mentioned. Just like Rutgers isn't going to see a packed house for lesser programs. But if anyone watched Penn State @ USC, for example, that was a packed house and drew 4.28 million viewers. LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State are the only game in town when they have home games. USC competed against Game 1 of the World Series just a few miles down the road as well as a home Lakers game. For USC to have a packed house in that scenerio, it had to play someone with more clout than Rutgers.

I'm waiting to see how the tv ratings did for Rutgers @ USC for a late Friday night game that didn't start until 11pm. I think anything over 1 million viewers would have to please Fox, which in the grand scheme of things means it doesn't really matter how many were in the stands.

absolutely scintillating.....as interesting as learning UChicago mens tennis won the D3 national championships last spring over Claremont Mudd.

I've always felt like Rufus has been sent here by the B1G ten mothership in some weird effort to promote the collective conf brand to all corners of the college sports world. Maybe the B1G has a clandestine viral marketing group that has fanned out to the various corners of the dark web to suddenly promote the product.

"Hey, sorry your football team is down, but have you tried just switching to the B1G ten and walking away - we have 18 teams to choose from! Look here is some viewership data. Try us!"

Greg, we should be in the B1G if they go to 22. Get a school in TX, one in NC, one in FL and UConn to seal the door on the northeast. But until we are part of the evil empire, it will remain the evil empire...the empire with no basketball skills.

Hey Exit 4, Exit 9 here. Haven't looked at Conf Realignment in about a month(too much FB and BB stuff going on), and I see this. What the heck, who cares about the B1G? Unless they are inviting us, "dead to me"

You kinda need to keep an eye on both the Big Ten in the SEC since they pretty much have control over college athletics at this point.

Lol great comment, especially the part about "no basketball skills".

I know being in the B1G would be great for UConn, but I honestly have little interest in watching the Huskies play men's bb games in that conference.

Shoddily-reffed slogs orchestrated by buzzcut coaches with 1950's-era offensive mentalities. No thank you, give me the Big East or Big 12 instead please.

The even funnier part is the idea that Rufus/Flugar has one whit of influence over this. All he seems to have is some kind of friendship with an actual insider--who himself probably has no influence--and who doesn't seem to mind the parasitical Flugar pumping him for information to feed his podcast.
