I understand your premise here that a change needed to be made after things got as bad as they did...but a week last week DID happen in the AAC. I get it was a transition year but you can't revise it out of existence. If Ollie simply kept coaching it could have happened again.

Ollie and the Diaco-tross are the reasons both basketball and football went into relative tailspins...and they are the reason the likes of Cincinatti, UCF, BYU, and Houston jumped UConn in the Power 5/Big 12 pecking order.

It also seems that blaming the AAC is the way UConn fans who oddly hate the football program excuse past bball failures.
Lol, did this makes sense in your head?

I've had season tickets for football going on 23 years. The AAC sucked for football, too.

(thanks, coach)

Part, I said "part", of the reason that those schools got the call ahead of UConn, is because of location.

You have to like Connecticut’s trend line over the last 10 years.

Lol just a brief throw away mention one of 15 possibilities mentioned.
For at least a half dozen years most of these national podcasts mentioned UConn only if they were giving examples of horrible football teams. It is progress to be discussed as possible conference members among 6 to 12 other schools.

I agree. It had gotten to the point where UConn was never mentioned in any realignment scenarios. I think it was last year that I posted that it was like UConn had dropped off the face of the earth.

It could come out of nowhere. Somebody could overhear something. Like this guy:

I mean I think we all expected a return to the big east, I don’t think anyone was shocked by it, that dude has been spouting garbage for close to a decade about UConn going to the Big12 and it’s never come to fruition.

It was also posted by a member of the Boneyard two weeks before the DigitalSportsDesk guy tweeted it. That's what I meant by saying someone could overhear something.

I know I'll get crucified for this thread, but just passing along something I heard today, because it came from a very credible source. Largest private donor at Providence, directly involved in their athletic department and knows Tranghese well (who he says UConn hired as a consultant at some point) says he's 95%+ sure that UConn will be joining the NBE in 2021. Says the school gave Herbst the authority to do it on her way out the door, football will be killed so the next President doesn't have to deal with it and we'll move to the NBE. I couldn't believe it as I've heard nothing as specific about it, but this is a credible, connected guy.

All pile on now....

Heard the new Big12 commissioner is BIG on basketball and would like to expand East as well-especially NYC. Create a mega BB power. Time will tell.

A lot depends on the future of the Pac12.
Maybe, but the big 12 would have to pay big east teams will north of 20% of the per team rate. I don’t see that happening.

Maybe the math works for one of the premier men's/women's dual basketball school that has football on the rise?

Yes, if it’s either in all sports offer or has a clear path to football joining within a reasonable period of time.

Yep. Maybe they take most or all of the BE as a non football division AND accept UConn as a full member or at least guarantee a partial football schedule. That would be a great outcome for us.

I just don't see them going so aggressive with non football BE schools as that.

Wow the B1G is a research powerhouse. Half the schools are in the top 30.
