Seems to be differing opinions on this. Furphy, Adams, and Mullins can definitely play together as a 1/2/3...it would be more about how they would fit in with the returning roster. Most likely we should still have Nowell, Mahaney, and Solo returning in the backcourt...so adding 3 more guys to that is alot. Although you can convince me that Adams, Mullins, and Solo could all play the "3" in our offense so maybe it isn't quite as crowded as one would think.

I think if furphy gains playing time it would come at expense of mahaney.

they are actively trying to develop Mullins' on-ball ability, but that could happen in a multilayer offense off of the initial action started by the primary handler.

Plenty of room for Mullins, Furphy, Adams etc. UConn has demonstrated that you don’t need to play 35 minutes to be drafted. The depth insures that players are getting better everyday in practice. the team is in superior condition and can manage through injury and foul trouble. Most importantly the team is set up to win. I expect Mullins and Furphy to commit. mullins is likely a 2 year player and Furphy 4. mahaney will be a senior and Ball will likely be drafted if he has a good year. plenty of room for guys that get the vision.

Is UConn done recruiting? I asked Fanta et. al. the other night and got a non-answer: "Recruiting is never done."
I was looking forward to us having our own Porzingis, but there must be something wrong with Niko.
Do we have a 4 next year? Alex was 6'6 1/2" at the combine, so we have the height, and Abraham defends well.
Can we use Furphy, a fifth combo guard? Probably, playing three at a time, like last year. Ross and Stew also at 4.
Crowded, but that seems to be a recurring theme. Can you have too many 6'5" sharpshooters who can handle the ball?

Abraham is alex in height alone. Alex has always been an outstanding shooter pulling to opposing 4 far from the basket and spreading the floor. Abraham by all reports will be a better defender but more limited offensively. If Niko does not come they will need a portal 4 next year.

FWIW-When you Google Jacob Furphy and ask what position he plays? It's SG and in some cases SF.. But not PG

I mean Alex is such a unique connecting piece I feel like he's hard to judge. Really the straw that stirs our drink.

Asking ANY player to be as good as him offensively is a tough ask. But if Abraham keeps up his insane rate of improvement, he'll be a positive offensive contributor for sure.
"Limited" was the word I was objecting to.

"More offense than we thought, even better than we thought we were getting," Hurley said after the summer's final practice on Friday. "And a toughness and athleticism ..."

How UConn men's basketball freshman Isaiah Abraham has impressed Dan Hurley: 'Our type of guy'

Any clue where he would be ranked in the 2025 class if he played in the US?

More limited offensively??? I do not know about that. Kid has a sweet stroke. Much cleaner stroke than Alex, objectively speaking. And he can jump through the ceiling.

FIFY.
Abraham can shoot, and is a much better athlete, and has a better handle.

The answers have been pretty split, I've seen someone say top 50 and others have said he'd be a 3* recruit
Has there really been more than that 1 source who has said he’s a 3 star? I’m not counting the morons on this board.

Seems like anyone reputable believes he’s elite. The fact we’re recruiting him at our program‘s current level would also indicate that is the case.

Crazy talk. Hurley is using his last scholly on Furphy because he's really fricken good, not a project. Anything else does not make sense.

This guy posts a bunch on Trilly's Discord and is pretty plugged in on all the international guys coming over. Said he prefers the guy Syracuse just got this week and implied he didn't think he was a HM player.

That said I trust Hurley's assessment more than anyone else's, so if he wants him that's all I need to know

I literally can’t remember if that’s the same source I was thinking of or a different one. I’m old. Funny you brought up that Syracuse guy because I am pretty irritated they got him. I feel like he might be good.

Like you said the staff must really like this guy, because if we wanted a developmental piece to sit on the bench for a couple years, we could just make that known and we’d probably have 20 solid 4 stars willing to sign up tomorrow. We wouldn’t have to find some 3 star from Australia. That makes no logical sense.

Furphy Makes perfect sense as a depth piece. If more than 2 guys go pro after this season we go portal shopping for a plug and play

If you have the roster spot and NIL isn’t being tapped, why not, from both ends? Nothing about the situation tells me he’s going to be instant contributor. Why would only Illinois be in on him if he was that good? My sense is he’s a smart kid, great for team culture, this will give him a chance to learn in a top program. I’m not expecting much here early, and it would make sense as no time to allocate. Longer term development kid - don’t need more than that for now.
