August 2019 WNBA Discussions, scores, game info, pictures

Wow, the playoff picture is muddy. Probably nobody from the bottom 4 is going to get in (Indiana 3.5 games behind Phoenix w/ 5 and 6 games left to play, respectively). Washington and Connecticut will probably finish 1 and 2. LA is now tied w/ Las Vegas w/ Chicago .5 game behind. Minnesota is .5 game behind Seattle. The seeds can change A LOT in the next 2 weeks.

Also keep an eye on the race for the worst 2 year record between New York and Indiana. Biggest loser has best shot at Sabrina next year.

2 ast, 1 Stl, 1 blk. Seattle was outsized inside, couldn't handle T. 6'7" and playing 34 to 35 mins is going to affect most teams fg%. Pokey has just been horrible about not playing her.

She certainly effected a lot of shots in the paint. I don't think she can take much credit for 5-23 behind the arc, or the number of shots that were halfway down and popped out. Just one of those awful kind of days.

McCowan even added 2 assists for the naysayers and doubters ;)

Ha. Yeah, I noticed a nice dish from her in the first half for an assist, thought that was a fairly historic event.

Just to push buttons.....this puts her at 7 in 603 minutes, or 86.1 minutes played per assist. Fowles as a rookie with 430 minutes and 5 assists, which comes out to 86 minutes played per assist.

Yeah, it's gotta be pretty low on the concerns list. I don't remember anyone complaining that Shaq didn't have more assists. When you have someone shooting 60% and dominating the boards, you're not exactly begging them to pass more.

Gotta grasp for straws to not give in sometimes

The Mystics are just a machine. Doesn't matter who takes shots for them, the ball goes in almost every time. I know Connecticut is only 1 game behind them in the standings, but I don't see anyone stopping them from winning a Championship. EDD has been a runner up twice, I think she's on a mission this year. Washington leading 33-22 after Q1 against the Sparks, shooting a ridiculous 12-18 and 6-10 behind the arc. LA is not playing bad at all but down double digits.

Looks like Trader Bill added T. Young to his starting lineup and benched Plum. Worked out great, they are trailing Indiana 29-15 after Q1. They are going the wrong direction in a hurry.

edit--make it 40-18 a few minutes into Q2; is LV even trying?

Heard the Aces are tired.

They might get a chance to rest up real soon, they'll get bounced out of the playoffs quickly the way they are playing lately.

Washington leading 54-37 at halftime. They really cooled off, now a shade under 60% shooting from the floor.

McCowan 12 pts and 11 (5 O) rebounds at half. Another 20-20 watch. And 4 Blocked Shots, 0 TO and only 1PF. She may get into the ROY race after all.

You left out her assist! Against A'ja and Liz too -- impressive (even though she is 3-8 FG). Kennedy Burke also having a solid game.

NY and Phoenix in the only competitive game at the moment. Merc up 3 at halftime, Griner has 19. Hartley leading the Lib w/ 11.

Powers has completely taken over in Q3 for the Mystics, she's scored 11 straight and they are up 25.

Since LA and LV are both going down big time today, Chicago could jump all the way to #3 in the standings if they can beat Minnesota.

Huh. Maybe not staring is agreeing w/ Plum. 4-7 behind the arc. She's played more minutes tonight than she did the previous game when she did start (but didn't play at all in the 2nd half).

The starting backcourt of McBride and J. Young have 0 FG and combined 2 points. Las Vegas has talent but I don't think they've ever really gelled. Still trailing by more than 20.

Sloot has 5 assists early in Q2. Next dime sets a single season record. Lynx up 1.

D has 7 assists fro Phoenix but is still rusty shooting, 0-6 so far. Game was tight a second ago but Merc up 6 late in Q3 now.

I thought LA played decent in the first half, they just ran into a buzzsaw. Not so much 2nd half, they're stinking up the floor. Absolute laugher, 83-47 in Q4.

LA does not match up well with the Mystics. It was Washington who decimated the Sparks last year in playoffs. The Mystics smeared the Sun earlier in the season. I think that they are the heavy favorites.

Phoenix about to beat NY with basically 2 players--Griner and Mitchell. Combined 54 points on 23-33 shooting.

edit--D has racked up 9 assists but 0 FGs

Indiana 86-71 final, McCowan w/ 24 pts./17 rebounds

Washington 95-66 final, Powers paced them w/ 20.
