Thanks for your input, but how many times has an athlete said one thing….and did another. Remember Jordan retiring from Basketball so he “could spend more time” with his family? Then several months later he was at Spring training trying out for Baseball? Or players retiring and then coming out of retirement to play again? So, your argument doesn’t stand. Sue Bird may not want to Coach today, but who knows??? She’s used to traveling and being around players. Maybe she gets tired of the mundane office job…we do not know!Sue Bird has said many times she has no desire to coach. She is in the management end now. And she is not moving back to Storrs.
Love Jen but no. She did not do well at George Washington.
Doubt Tamika is going to leave her position. Her teams have not made the NCAA as far as I know.
Nakisha has no head coaching experience.
Jen was long rumored to be the Coach to replace Geno when he stepped down. She coached at UHART and George Washington, and no her record wasn’t great but neither was Tonya’s or others. Shea Ralph was a great assistant Coach, but she’s having trouble with wins at Vanderbilt. Marissa Mosley was also a great assistant coach, and she’s having trouble with wins at Wisconsin. Sales has been an Assistant Coach for a number of years and has done an outstanding job. She would make a fine assistant if she could be lured back to UCONN. Remember, we’re not talking a HEAD COACHING JOB, this is an Assistant Coaching job….has nothing to do with “Head Coaching experience”. Marissa didn’t have any when Boston U hired her, and very little when she was hired by Wisconsin. Shea had NO HEAD COACHING experience when Vanderbilt hired her. Kara Lawson had NO HEAD COACHING experience when she was hired by Duke.
Nowhere did I say that any of the people I mentioned were even INTERESTED IN THE JOB! Just throwing names like everyone else is doing, but showing that Tonya may or may not be ‘The Gold Candidate’ for this new position.
Tamika maybe fine where she is, but you don’t KNOW emphatically that if offered the job, she wouldn’t consider it and/or take it.
