Sorry Eric, but that does not satisfy me("Everything I've read and heard says "). To then assume, and build on that, "I get that they may have other players they feel are a higher priority" satifies me even less.

Just my take.
Fortunately I wasn't trying to "satisfy" you. The question was if anyone had any information regarding the recruitment and possible scholly offer for Calhoun. My answer was based on everything i've read and heard about the "situation", which is not to say I have any idea what goes on behind closed doors in the coaches conversations.

If you didn't want to hear any answers I'm not sure why you asked the question. Don't you think if an offer were actually made, the horde would somehow have reported it? They'd likely have heard it from the coaches or the player/player's family. So frankly I'm not sure what sort of answer your were expecting.

Ozzie we are going after #1 Wilson,#3 Turner*,#4 Caldwell*,#5 Canada,#9 Drummer with #8 Ekmark** verballed and #15 per ASGR Calhoun*! We are going to have to be patient<not something I am great at re
UCONN recruiting> I have always hoped we get Sierra, but if we were to get #1,#3,#4/#5,#8,#9 all hypothetical at this point:) Then what do we do? LOL

We do not know if Sierra has a secret offer or will be offered one soon? Her father is and has been outspoken. Has anyone seen anything from him since he recently said " I expect an offer in the next couple of weeks" I don't expect Dad to be silent indefinitely! That is when we will probably ist know where we are with Sierra!

It is very disconcerting that eric is this optimistic. It is kind of like a shift in the magnetic poles.;)
Well, I think Eric's last name is Polish, and I can attest to his magnetic personality. So, yes, he is a magnetic Pole. :)

Oz, to put it a little differently, we have heard nothing from the Horde, published media, insiders, friends, or family that confirms an offer to Calhoun. That suggests that probably none has been made. If that is true, I suspect that an offer may never be made.

?? I have a feeling I must be misunderstanding you somehow. ESD says he has not heard anything; that's the opposite of gossip. You said you thought you saw a couple posts alleging an offer; that's more in the line of "gossip."

How can ESD produce a direct source for confirming nothing? On the other hand you could seek to produce those two posts you thought you saw. For the record, I'm guessing this is a light-hearted joke and I should not even be commenting, but just in case.

Mil and Digger got it correct. I'm not honestly sure what Oz is even arguing about. He asked for my "direct source" when I very clearly said I've neither read nor heard anything that indicates we've made an offer to her. I also went on to say I have no idea what goes on in private discussions with the coaches, but if the horde has not reported on an offer, and her family has not indicated she has received one, the assumption at this point is that she does not have a scholly offer.

Now if the coaches have offered her a "double secret probation" offer, then we aren't privy to it. If Oz thinks she somehow has an offer, "I want to know his direct source" ;)

There is a secret code in Animal House which provides the answer as to whether Calhoun has been offered ............

Coach Winlots, I want to thank you for your expertise on WCBB and RASSLING, as they say down here in my beloved South. But tell me please ... How do I go from being a King of Optimism to getting my ears pinned to the mat. lol.

Can you tell me ?

I sure will be glad to see the season start so you can get your Ya Ya's out. You got too much time on your hands. Go wrestle one of your patients. It will be very therapeutic, for him and YOU ! LOL

GO UCONN GO

sLIMMER

SLIM: To answer your question about your precipitous fall: just a stroke of the pen, Lad.....surely you know that the pen is mightier than even a sword, let alone some 95 lb. rasslin champ. :)

And then, you have to go and jump ugly, you old fool...and just when you were on the verge of a nice raise in pay. One question for you: just what is a Ya Ya....and are you sure I should be getting it or them out?

Winlots,
You know Sandy is going to be extremely upset about me not getting a raise in pay. Surely you josh, Holmes.
As well as you have mastered the ukelele, and as many jam sessions we have had at your house, you never heard of the old Rolling Stones record, "Get your YA YA's out" ?
Where ya been, under a rock ?
GO UCONN GO !

You gotta ask the Stones. Remember though you gotta Let It Bleed or else you will end up with Sticky Fingers.

SLIM: well, yeh, I've been under a rock or two. Even been hit by a couple as a kid....not ALL stones are rollin', ya realize.

For the record, to my almost unlimited knowledge, The Stones have never been on a Philly Streetcorner (and I've never given voice to their stuff). I'm gonna let go of this exchange now....the last word is yours for the taking....and I'll see you on another thread some time.

Swamped here, believe it or not........not to mention starting to get amped up for EX Game 1 TOMORROW!! We'll be there....I feel like Martin Short at Thanksgiving!

MEYERS: so when did you get to be so warm and fuzzy and FUNNY?? Are we witnessing some kind of a reincarnation?? Gettin religion when you see how challenging it is to get old?? Anyhow, all very welcome in this corner....and a tip of the hat for a solid chuckle......good stuff.

Prolly under a thumb.

MEYERS again: more of the same. And anaother chuckle.

To get an answer to that speculative outburst re my being under a thumb, I'll have to put you in touch with "Moose-alini" here on the distaff side. Now, don't misunderstand, that term of endearment simply means "diminutive Moose" in Itralian.....has nothing to do at all with dictatorships and such...you can check with Geno on that.

(On another front, she just weighed in and informed me that the Martin Short character I was attemped to reference in that last SLIM post was, of course, my favorite Ed Grimley of the screw-top hairdo (another Philly area staple around l950)).

Hi Meyers7...
You a fan of the Stones, or just music in general like myself. I loved the early Stones. Let it Bleed, a great song. Some of those old riffs by Keith Richard... awesome. Remember the old cover of StickeyFingers. The Zipper !

Personally I preferred The Beatles. I thought Lennon / McCartney were 2 of the gretest writers of all time. Good players too. Remember the song, "The Ballad of John & Yoko". That was cut in the studio by John & Paul. Paul played drums, base, and a little piano, I think. John played guitar, and did the lead vocal. It seems Ringo & George were out of town at the time. Great song !

I am shocked that a player as good as S. Calhoun, who could easily be ranked in the top 10, who has expressed a strong interest in UCONN and has an obvious direct connection tot he school, hasnot received an offer yet. UCONN shoudl not only offer her but push for a firm committment ASAP.

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush! I know that we are going after a bunch of other great p layers and will probably get some of them but I dont want want us to risk pissing of Calhoun and opening up an opportunity for someone else to coem in and snatch her right out from underneath us while we, with rosy glasses, are recruiting other players who are perceived to be better.

Remember ranking are just one person's opinion. ASGR has her at #15, which is great, but Calhoun could easily be ranked 8,9, or 10 and probably is in some other expert's rankings. A player of such high quality with a strong desire to attend UCONN should be hotly pursued by us. Let's not mess this thing up. We have several scholly opneing for next year.

It's possible that Geno wants her to be sure SHE wants UConn and isn't being steered there by her brother and father. Geno has stated that he doesn't like to offer too early because young minds change too easily. I don't want this to become a K Davis-like story.

Geno has a tendency to wait before signing kids who really want to come to UConn. Breanna being another. So she hasnt committed to another school tells me she may have been told something mutual with UCOnn. I have no intel on this either. JMO What I do know is ND is persuing her big time.
