Good point but 9 for 18 in FT will not cut it. We have always been a great FT team. NOT tonight
Only because the wrong guys on the team were shooting most of them. Reibe and Koroma were 3-10. Team was 9-18. So the rest of the team was 6-8 (75%).

Its a game against a top 5 team. You play in the game unless you can't walk. Thinking this might effect him later in the season is scared Thinking
As long as he’s healthy for DePaul, we good. Soft

Y’all would be the first to complain if he got a major injury tonight. “Why is he playing hurt? It’s only November! Save him for the important part of the season!”

There’s no good reason to rush Reed back. He has two injuries to recover from and aggravating either of those isn’t worth it.

A lot of thought and evaluation goes into whether a potential AA plays hurt in a big game or not. It's not like us in our softball leagues deciding not to play in a Saturday game because we're too hungover.

The student section is horrendous. Absolutely no juice from them. A huge front running student section. Never get behind the team when we’re down. All they do is dress in bananas and waive some inflatable balloons around. We cut it to 53-47 and Arizona shooting in front of the student section and it’s done. 0 home court advantage from the students. Someone handle that

I cringed at that shot by Ball as well, but I wouldn't kill the guy for it - he's our best perimeter weapon and he saw some daylight - you tell a guy to have that confidence, so it's not going to disappear in the crunch time if you're lucky. I'd rather him have that confidence, but now recognize via film session that he could have gotten a better one.

The most concerning thing for me is the percentage of those going in for him. He is officially struggling from 3.

Posters here complaining about Reed not playing are crazy.

This game would of been nice to win, but come March, this game is relatively meaningless.

We aren't going to drop a seed because we lost to Arizona in November. We would definitely drop a seed if we lose to Butler or DePaul or Xavier in December because Tarris Reed tried to play through an injury, and made it worse.

Being a bit greedy here but if you come back to take a lead with under 2min left in Gampel, you need to finish it off for the win.

Not crushed by this loss but we really should have come out with a W.

Solo made a really bad decision hucking up a horrible 3 attempt so early in the shot clock. But it’s something he’s been doing too much this year. He’s shooting so poorly because his 3pt shot selection is so much worse this year than last year. I’d surmise 10-15 of his attempts this year have been low-percentage attempts. And his obsession with hunting fouls on 3’s is bizarre. Please stop.

Those of you throwing shade at Stew and Ross must have been watching some other game. They didn’t have amazing games, but they did just fine. Stew especially.

Smith is frantic too often, but he made some GREAT assists and clutch plays. Crazy he’s our 2nd string PG.

Our big-time players didn’t show up tonight like they did against BYU. Part of it was just not having Reed to open up the offense for Silas & Alex. Arizona could get away with tight perimeter D. But they both still kinda underperformed. It happens. They’re humans not robots.

LOVED what Reibe brought. That last shot he made a great effort just to get it up to the rim after getting raked across the forearm. Tough missing those FTs but I bet he’ll be better going forward.

I love the overall long-term outlook for this team.

It's an opportunity - we missed the opportunity to beat a top 4 team on our home floor. We don't get many of those chances. Do you think the committee just waves off a game? Do you think they waved off the games McNeeley missed last year?

Also realize we'll likely be battling an Arizona for seeding - they beat us on our floor, it's an advantage. These games matter.
Is there a November/December loss we had in the past that still eats at you because it hurt our seeding or our season trajectory? Maybe there’s one. I think back to Georgia Tech being bad at the time - might have cost us a 1 seed I guess. Losing to Syracuse with a hobbled Okafor in the finale probably hurt worse - and then we sat him in the Big East Tournament and took a risk of losing. That story ended well.

The Kentucky one to John Wall stunk - but that team ended up in the NIT.

We sat Rip two games with a bruise - lost to Cuse and beat Stanford without him. We ramped up Castle slowly and that may have cost us the Seton Hall game when Clingan left.

In hindsight, the 1998 team lost to Florida State early and then ended up a 2 in Greensboro before losing to UNC. But they were coming off an NIT season and the freshman point guard struggled in that one.

To think we were a handful of Solo Ball braincells or a single whistle away from beating a top 3 team in the country without 2 of our starters. Lots of guts and elite coaching. Really the only thing that could hold Zona back this year is Tommy Lloyd

I hate to bang on a 3rd string center but I gotta see the tape on how Koroma scored dbl figures against power conference schools multiple times last year, it doesn't even look like he's trying to put the ball in the basket with these shot attempts and FTs. With Reed and Reibe healthy that won't be a concern but damn that's a rough watch.
His stroking out pump fakes made him unstoppable in the Northeast Conference.

If only UConn still had a 6'7" forward who was a future top 5 lottery pick. A forward who could average 31 mins a game, 18 points per game and 6 rebounds in the NBA.

Oh wait they never had that player, as he opted to come out early as the 33rd pick, who now gets less playing time, pts and rebounds then #4, #34 and #35 draft picks.

Down Mullins and Reed. Team fought hard… still lots to clean up. Free throws and rebounding. I’m concerned about Solo in many different ways: 3’s not falling, that last shot was terrible, drive to the hoop there. Overall, once this team gels, look out.

You have an insanely good memory.

Reibe looks awesome for a 7'1" freshman. I'm not saying he's Clingan, but if tonight is any indication, I'll say it. He looks much more refined than Clingan did when he first started. That's great news. 15 pts. 4 rebounds. 2/5 from three.

I'm not really anti-Arizona, I'm saying we would've rolled them if we were at full strength because that's what would've happened. I'm not obsessed with Brayden Burries like you are, I don't consider them a top 3-4 team in the country, and I don't think 3-3 in these non conference games against big name teams is the best we could possibly hope for if Reed is playing. I don't judge the future of this team based off a cupcake game against New Haven.

I also didn't think the game was over tonight when there was 19 minutes left and I don't think Tarris Reed is a mushy type of kid for not playing tonight. We look at the sport and UConn basketball very differently.
Yeah we do. Oh the hyperbole and hand picking. You are one righteous dude and seem to think you're smarter than the masses.

AZ has two lottery picks on their team - those type of kids usually just get better, especially with a great coach, as the season matures. They have Dwayne Aristolde on the bench.

We didn't hear a thing about Reed's ankle until 30 minutes before pregame. It's Wednesday after a Saturday injury. In his presser, he said they didn't realize how hurt he was until Monday. None of it makes sense.

There are a lot of valuable things Clingan did as a freshman that Reibe doesn’t do, like scare people from entering the lane and absorb rebounds. Those are really important for a 5. He doesn’t play with near the force.

Burries will not be a lottery pick.

This is what I think too. He needs to get in the gym and do nothing but shoot three pointers.

This is interesting. I'm pretty sure everyone ragged on him for 3 years for doing nothing but working on his 3 ball. Now he isn't working on it enough.

NEWSFLASH: These players work on multiple areas of their game every day of the year.

Solo is really an enigma. Great on the curl dribbles into the paint. Terrible 3 shot selection and the wide open ones aren’t falling. Tries harder on D but still a liability.
I would not have taken Smith out at the end. Bradley ate Silas’ lunch all day.
Is he a guy who we can rely on to make winning plays in crunch time? This will be a major key to our season.
