Is there a November/December loss we had in the past that still eats at you because it hurt our seeding or our season trajectory? Maybe there’s one. I think back to Georgia Tech being bad at the time - might have cost us a 1 seed I guess. Losing to Syracuse with a hobbled Okafor in the finale probably hurt worse - and then we sat him in the Big East Tournament and took a risk of losing. That story ended well. It's an opportunity - we missed the opportunity to beat a top 4 team on our home floor. We don't get many of those chances. Do you think the committee just waves off a game? Do you think they waved off the games McNeeley missed last year?
Also realize we'll likely be battling an Arizona for seeding - they beat us on our floor, it's an advantage. These games matter.
The Kentucky one to John Wall stunk - but that team ended up in the NIT.
We sat Rip two games with a bruise - lost to Cuse and beat Stanford without him. We ramped up Castle slowly and that may have cost us the Seton Hall game when Clingan left.
In hindsight, the 1998 team lost to Florida State early and then ended up a 2 in Greensboro before losing to UNC. But they were coming off an NIT season and the freshman point guard struggled in that one.
