Does UConn practice Free Throws

It seems that opponents are keeping Solo, Karaban and Demary off the 3 pt line and giving them the pullup or defending the drive. Only Jalen and Jayden (and Reibe LOL) getting the outside three without challenge. Going to have to work up more offensive plays to counter
this.

That’s where not having Reed made a big differences. They were overplaying on shooters and just kept their big guy in the paint.

Hopefully, Reibe can develop some post moves too.

Anyway…was a little annoyed that we did not get much from AK, but I keep reminding myself that he’s really a complimentary piece that makes everything else work better.

What we need is 1) no more surprises from the training staff and 2) Solo to regain his form on threes. He’s added a ton to his game, but that piece is out of kilter at present.

I don't think he was brought in for offense. He was brought in for defense and rebounding and did fine. He is our 3rd sring Center and undersized. Not sure what you expected out of him.

Most of our fouls are mindless, for example the last foul by Reibe. Other than that, We have a championship team if healthy.

Demary's last foul trying to dive into the Arizona player to steal the ball when he had no chance to do that was also not a very smart foul. Especially since he knew he was in foul trouble.

This is the kind of game where you need somebody to off for 30.

I can't imagine anyone our our side who is capable of going off for 30.

Solo was fouled on those 3s.

Does anyone doubt that Silas's turnover late would've been called a foul if that was Bradley dribbling into the lane against Silas?

I think if he held onto the ball and was able to get the shot off he was being fouled.

I did think it was over when they were winning by double figures. If you looked at the box score, it almost seems impossible that we were close. They outrebounded us 40-23. They beat us at the free throw line. They outshot us. They were finding much easier shots than us - we had to work a lot harder. We had an advantage in turnovers and made a few more 3's is the only thing that closed the gap. AZ really doesn't do much from 3 is one of their pitfalls.

Gritty effort, felt like a mirage of a comeback. Good sign.

Good point but 9 for 18 in FT will not cut it. We have always been a great FT team. NOT tonight

Why would you say that? There’s no “difference” in mid-November that’s worth risking a guy’s long-term availability.

There's a difference when your 6 OOC games will have major impact on your March seeding when your conference is really bad.

If he had gone down on it and hobbled off the court Saturday, I get it. He played and finished the game and was a GTD.

I did like how Peat tried to back him down and he didn’t budge an inch. He’ll help guarding some bully ball type forwards for a few minutes here or there and maybe get some dunk chances. He did attack the rim with some ferocity after the offensive foul.

Because this is a big time game. Other players play hurt all the time, and being afraid this might impact him long term, when he would have another 9 days off after this because no way you play him against Bryant, is just ridiculous

For 1, I assume you mean no more injuries, then yes. Need to get Tarris and Braylen back and stay healthy.

The rebounding wad a problem but Reed would have helped alot there.

Some positives yes….but some big concerns:

1. Demery completely disappeared tonight
2. Solo….what on earth were you thinking
3. Did Ross play tonight?
4. Not one to complain about the refs normally but they let Peat take 4 steps at least 3 times in the 2nd half, plus he completely discarded Stewart on an and 1 in the first half
5. Foul shooting…..really?

But in the first have peat scored on follow. Announcers review replay see peat snack Stewart in the face and throw him to side on way to follow. Obvious flagrant, raff had a hard time chocking on his tongue after replay
