Imani Lewis - 6-1 Forward , Wisconsin
Nyah Green - 6-1 Guard , Louisville
Amay Finklea-Guity - 6-4 Center, Syracuse
Lexi Gordon - 6-0 Guard/Wing, Texas Tech, Connecticut
Celeste Taylor - 5-11 Guard, Texas
Elizabeth Balogun - 6-1 Wing?, Louisville

Honestly, 6 quality transfers for Kara. If she gets them to play hard and together, they should be back in the top 25 this year. If her portal success translates to the recruiting trail, Duke will be a national program pretty soon.

These are some serious transfers. Heck, she's got so many guards, some of the ones who came in early in the process might wonder what else is in the rear-view mirror;)

Lewis will give Finklea-Guity company in the lane and Balogun will need to help out there, too.
That Louisville game is gonna be really strange with Green and Balogun, and Finklea-Guity and Emily Engstler (at Louisville) wondering where the Orange uniforms are....

Based on my understanding of the rules, Balogun has to sit this year as she previously transferred and didn’t have to sit. But to be fair that non-residency transfer was allowed due to abuse allegations against Michelle Joseph who was fired at Georgia Tech so that may be a mitigating issue in her favor.
To me, this roster is mostly comprised of “spare parts” from better teams or a few key cogs on significantly lesser teams. It will be really interesting to see what Kara can do and how her coaching evolves.

One thing I did learn this past year was “top assistants/heir apparent” didn’t fair so well in actual game coaching-see Ivey, Elzy with one actually improving as she went on in BrookeWyckoff, Kara is now suspect to me simply because initially all 3 did struggle. She is not a slam dunk to be a huge success is my point.

Time will tell, however now majority of the roster consists of players she's recruited personally. How they perform on the court in comparison to last season's group which she primarily inherited will at least give us an indication of what we could see in future as more of her recruits come into the program.

Is this "sisterhood" slogan that all the transfers to Duke are including in their announcement tweets something new? I mean, Duke canceled the first season under Lawson; and, most of the past two seasons' rosters are gone now. So, who's had any time to build a "sisterhood" with the revolving doors and canceled season?

Always at least once in the bunch. It's newly adopted.. taken from the "The Brotherhood" that the Duke MBB adopted a few years ago.

Mikesell is a bit of a surprise. Graves seemed to think that his roster was solid for next season. Now looking at 10 total. This reduces the guards to Paopao, Scherr, and incoming frosh Taylor Bigby with seven bigs if you count Parrish at 6’2”. He might be okay with it though. Dugalic will certainly see time at the 3 so Parrish can rotate to the 2 as needed. Not sure he is searching the portal now. May go with 10.
Maybe she was asked to work on her defense a little in the off season and she felt she did not have to?

And that is not mentioning the turnovers. Everyone is better off here.

I've been pondering this quite a bit today (it's a slow day in the library...).

Anyone think there is a possibility Mikesell ends up at Sac State with Campbell and Lopez? She and DeCosta (if DeCosta plays...) could really make some noise in the Big Sky and have that program turn a quick 180.
She definitely was showed up in the Pac-12. Big sky conference is where she might excel. I was expecting more when she transferred to Oregon. She was streaky at best but had way too many turnovers.

I asked a question; don't be so sensitive. So, I'll take that as the "sisterhood" still has to be formed and nothing more than a conceptual motto . . .

I saw a Miskell that improved during her year at Oregon. She became much more that a catch and shoot offensive player. I saw a kid who had a mid-range game, developed her game at the rim, and was counted on to bring the ball up court. I believe with the right team, she will be a very big upgrade at the wing.
Well, then. Mr Rueck at OSU should give her a call then. She had no quickness or defense what so ever. Probably why Mr. Rueck won't be calling her either. She saw the handwriting on the wall. Maybe Sac St. will come calling?

Relax. Triad would only be sensitive if you said Texas bbq was better than Carolina.
:)
That's not even debatable! Although I do love me some Carolina spicy barbecue sauce . . . :D

Kara will be returning four starters from last year’s team, so she could have only two starting spots open and both on the wing, she will probably go with Taylor and Gordon if Balogun isn’t cleared to play this year. I wonder how Green is feeling, who I’m sure was thinking she would be a starter headed into next season after not getting much of a chance at Louisville.

Really struggled at Oregon. Might do best returning to the Big 10.

I'm with you on this. She's an Ohio kid and, quite candidly, I wondered about the transfer to Oregon with the pandemic going on.

This is her second transfer and there were no extenuating circumstances surrounding the first one (such as Balogun/Dixon with Mechelle Joseph at GT) right? If so, she'll have to sit a year.

With that in mind, Ohio State has a mess of returning upper classmen at guard (but no height) a few of whom will be graduating after this year, so maybe she might look at her in-state university.

Another suggestion: have a chat with the heir apparent coach at Purdue and get to know each other. I could also see her getting along fine with Suzy Merchant at Michigan State.

She would get minutes at OSU. She's a baller. Rueck would be the ideal coach to improve her defense. When Aleah Goodman came to OSU, she was a terrible defender. By the time she left OSU, Goodman was an excellent defender.

Gary Blair is the only coach I can think of who can build a "team" from a large group of transfers in just one season. He's a master at it in part because he does it often. A new unproven coach plus a bunch of players that haven't played together before is like having a rookie coach directing a bunch of freshmen and a few sophomores with limited experience....sounds like a disaster in the making. If she pulls it off she's going to be a great coach down the road...but that's a mighty BIG if!

Naw, not even close. The biggest transfer transformation was Dawn taking in Kaela Davis a defensive indifferent player during her two years at GT and getting her to play remarkable defense in stretches. Add in Allisha Gray another transfer and Dawn was able to parlay all of that into a championship.

Appears like Shug Dickson grad-transfer from Mizzou is transferring to Rutgers.

Good news for my UNC-G Spartans.... Two in the portal decided to come back. Wonder if they had a true change of heart, or if they didn't get any offers

Cardoso was recently followed by the official Texas WBB IG page. That’s usually a sign, right?

ETA: They seem to follow other prospects (not just signees and commits) with their official page. Not surprised, however, Vic is getting in the mix with her again.
