A bad loss knocked them out but...

Hard to figure this all out when you see the teams ranked ahead of them. Like Memphis...

We beat #17 Memphis, #20 Memphis and #15 Florida who is now #1. Yet Duke is #6. We lose to a fringe 25 team on Sunday and we drop completely out???? What a joke, i'll never understand how some of this is justified.

And then you have teams like St. Louis and Wichita State who haven't even sniffed beating a ranked team. I get it that they're good, but they would get lit up by UConn. St. Louis just barely escaped the big dogs of LaSalle, Duquense and George Mason by a few points. Come on man...

That's harsh, but considering it's UConn I'm not surprised.

Oh and let's not forget St. Louis's 2 point victory over Valparasio and 1 point barn burner over the almighty University of Rhode Island. And if that's not enough, they played stellar in their 6 point victory over Saint Bonaventure. What a fine ball club that deserves to be ranked not only in the top 10, but about 16 spots ahead of UConn.

The only team ranked ahead of us that I do not think is justified is New Mexico. IMO we should be 25 but it really doesn't make a big difference. Beat Cincy on Saturday and we are back in again.

St. Louis has not lost a game in almost 3 months and the two losses are to quality teams, they have an easy schedule but that is still very impressive. I think we would beat them head to head, but they fully deserve to be ranked ahead of us at this point in time. We will see how they fair against VCU and UMass in the upcoming weeks.

The Lobos really worked hard for their ranking as well. Totally deserve to be ahead of us. They played so well in their double overtime victory over UAB, their overtime win against Wyoming, and their 4 point win over San Jose State. They really grinded it out in their loses over New Mexico State, UNLV, UMass and Boise State as well. Oh, and their 2 point victory over Colorodo State was impressive as hell too.

Head to head it wouldn't even be a competition. 3 months of being undefeated would be impressive if they played a power conference team at least once in that span. I'd love to see St. Louis sweep a team like Memphis and take down #1 Florida.

If it isn't then the griping here is moot. Lose to USF and we definitely don't deserve to be ranked, even if we beat Cinci.

My point is, let's hope the players aren't crying about not being ranked and thinking ahead to a Cinci game when they have to go to South Florida and beat a team that has had their number in the past. Wilder things have happened ... they need to bounce back strong.

I bleed Blue, but that performance against SMU was unwatchable. Too much one on one by the guards, DD and NG played poorly on D, always running at their man and not being on their man. The only guy willing to fight was T.O.. They don't deserve to be ranked in the top 25 with that performance. You have to defend your home court to have any credibility.

Lucky for us these rankings aren't used in determining NCAA tournament seeding

St. Louis and Wichita State would get lit up by UConn? C'mon, let's at least try to be a little objective here. Both of those teams are very similar to SMU, whom we've lost to twice. I'm not saying we couldn't win those games, but to say they would get "lit up by UConn" is just being a homer.

St Louis took us out year before last...I've respected STL's program since our days in CUSA 1.0

Louisville, Cincy, Memphis, Marquette, St Louis, Charlotte (when they were good), UAB (when they were good)

I liked that conference.

Sure we can beat many of those teams ranked above us. And many of those teams ranked above us can also beat us.

Our team is not a paper team. We are challenged to prove it on the court. Its that type of season for us.

Gotta defend home court against a team ranked lower than you. No excuse.

Yeah, but then there's Memphis.

You can't justify Memphis being ranked higher than UConn.

UConn has better wins and beat them twice.

I agree, but what are they going to do, drop Memphis after they won two games last week? Granted both were somewhat of a struggle (and especially Temple @ home) ... but these rankings tend to be more of a snapshot in time rather than overall body of work ... that's what you hope the committee takes into consideration.

I think you may be watching different UCONN games from the rest of us. We are likely the 20-30th best team in the country and this will continue to fluctuate depending on weekly results. No way we go undefeated with WSU's schedule. Way too inconsistent.

That's not how the polls work, UConn beat us twice...that's that...but you just lost while we're playing three teams in the bottom half of the conference.

It's all "what have you done for me lately"
