AO to Duke? Ah gosh....

yeah, I could see it. I think it is a great match. And AO although he at times looks soft through our eyes and Big East lenses would be the toughest mamajama in the ACC. He is the exact type of big Duke never gets. I can't think of anyone other than Elton Brand who has Oriakhis upside on a Duke team. Don't tell me Shelden Williams he was so soft he made AO look like a hardened criminal.

If AO was as good as Sheldon Williams the Huskies may still be playing....not saying he was great by any means but a far better college basketball player than AO.....

Since we are talking Duke who do you think will get drafted higher and who will have a better NBA career? Jeremy Lamb or Austin Rivers

Lamb will be a better NBA player. He's got a more polished offensive game and will be great as a #2 or #3 on a contending team. Rivers has the personality of a #1 type player, but doesn't have the game to pull that off in the NBA.

Brand, Boozer, & Shelden were miles ahead of AO, you can't be serious. As mau already pointed out AO isn't even better than the Plumlees, if Mason stays there's no way AO plays ahead of him and he definitely can't play along side him.

If Mizzou has any scholarships left AO should be looking to go there. He's already played with and has a tight bond with Phil Pressey. Pressey can set AO up with great looks that he'll likely brick his fair share or fumble out of bounds but playing with him would probably be his best bet for looking good for a potential pro career.

I can't believe the approval in this thread. Wake up people, this is *king DUKE we are talking about. Why has the boneyard gotten so soft all the sudden? I love AO, but if he goes to Duke, it would break my f'in heart. This isn't Darius Smith, it's a kid who was the second or third best player on a National Championship team. He's talked at length about how much he's loved UConn, loved Calhoun. This kid is one of OUR guys. I don't care if he had a bad year, he had a few really good games during our national title run, and for that, he will/should always be embraced here.

Unless...he goes to Duke or Kentucky. If that were the case, I would root for him to fail, root for him to flame out in the pros. Betraying the UConn program in the face of adversity is bad enough as it is (although I can forgive that) but if he were to put on the Duke jersey, I would burn his jersey ala LeBron James. Please, AO. Don't f'in do it.

I think this is brilliantly devious, or deviously brilliant, if we can pull this off. If we are banned from the tourney next year and can't meet Duke on the court, we can still beat them from within by sending them a potted plant who can't box out or hold on to the ball. If we are not banned, we gain a strategic advantage if we meet them on the court because they will have wasted a scholarship on a player who they cannot use. BWAHAHAHA!

Really does it matter where he goes? Embrace him all you want and yeah, we can remember he was our 3rd or 4th best player that year if we want. We can also remember he was our 5th or 6th best player the year after......unfortunately like it or not it's "what have you done for me lately"......Good guy, good kid, has his reasons, I don't care where he goes!!

As I posted previously, anybody who quits or transfers out regardless of what contributions they made in the past "is dead to me" like the wiseguy expression. It'a about the program and the 2011 championship is a team accomplishment, not an individual one. He quit on the university and his teammates. I don't care what school he washes ashore at, I just want him to fail there. If it's Duke, fine with me. That will just give me another reason to hate Duke. Since Duke plays on tv more than anyone, I'll get maximum enjoyment watching him lose rebounds and passes off his hands and getting out-hustled to loose balls etc. For a change, I'll get to enjoy seeing him do those things.

Considering the lack of defense played in the ACC, AO could improve his numbers and make his dad proud.

Didn't you say in another thread you have kids? So presumably you're an adult?

What? Adults aren't allowed to hate quitters?....

Yes, I'm an adult who hates quitters. And your point is?

Wow. It's college basketball.

What's wrong with dook? Its a lateral transfer as opposed to a smaller D1 school. Plus it will benefit his NBA chances. He will also finally bring toughness to dook. I know many think he's UConn soft, but at dook he would be like a beast (which is not saying much).

SMH, it's really not that serious

Some perspective is in order. AO is a kid trying to create a life for himself. Damning him to hell if he transfers to a school you don't like is just plain evil.

The most important question is this: What does Jamal Coombs-McDaniel think of Duke?

does he know what duke bigs do? they take a charge, rebound/box out and set picks all game. and its funny becuase duke big guys are always called and usually are "soft".

Elton Brand was not soft, nor was Boozer....Always=Often

congrats. your digging to deep into my point and also defending duke. why don't u just switch fanbases now too. :D

Give him a break, guys! The poor guy just needs a hug!

LMFAO!!! I can still remember those over-bearing,over-confident, Puke fans, in a tribute to their over-rated team, wearing buttons in Tampa in '99 that said "Duke and The Final Three". But the topper was Krapascrewdookski telling a post-game reporter, on camera of course(That's post 77-74 don'tcha know! :D), "I don't coach for wins. I coach for relationships." I'm getting a strong urge to "Puke" just remembering and typing this crap. I was actually, in the middle of screaming my brains out in celebration, trying to figure out a way to FedEx a case of Kleenex down there because the collective Krapascrewdookski family were literally drowning in their own tears in the stands. Wanted to show a little UConn compassion. At any rate, if this goes down, let's see how Dukie V's favorite coach adjusts to AO Sr.'s passion for all things Twitter!

If he can land Duke, that's great. He has a 3.6 gpa. Maybe even go for Stanford. Make use of your opportunities AO.

I hate Dook. But it would not be a bad choice on any level for AO.
I can only wish him the best and thank him for his role in our NC last year.
He was part of a very special team and I will always be grateful for that.

Is there a joke somewhere in here about whether AO's father knows more about basketball than Austin Rivers' father?

Or am I just projecting?
