This was in the ESPN article on Rivers leaving............

Sources also said that Duke could be among a handful of schools that UConn forward Alex Oriakhi talks to, after he announced Thursday he's transferring from the Huskies for his senior season. Oriakhi can play immediately as long as the Huskies' 2013 NCAA tournament ban, stemming from its poor academic progress report, is upheld

That would be depressing to see.............

if we are banned from the tourney, no one should fault alex for transfering. at that point, if he succeeds, even at duke, that would look favorably towards uconn and our staff!

It would be good for him, degree from Duke looks better than a degree from UConn. Being perfectly honest, he might need that degree.

Not really. Alex can screw their team up like he did ours.

I was just checking the Duke scout board to see what they were saying about Austin Rivers and saw a 5 page thread on AO. I figured it was 5 pages of trashing UConn and JC. To my surprise it was basically them all wanting AO to come to Duke.

If AO transferred to Duke I would be forced to take back everything nice I have ever said about him.

If he does go to Duke and learns to box out and his overall numbers improve there will be a lot more negative coaching chat on this board.

Duke would be a great spot for him.

ACC would fit him and if he put up any sort of numbers, the Duke 'bump' would do wonders for his draft stock.

Why? Did he not do those things last year?

I actually wouldn't blame him if he chose Duke. I doubt that's where he lands, but I wouldn't blame him if he did.

are any of the duke bigs leaving this year(any seniors?)? while i would take a improved and 100% into the game ao over the plums all day, i don't think he could beat kelly out for the 4 spot. also the plums have alot of size/lenght on him for the 5 spot. in dukes O the 4 is more of a hybrid guy like olander. kelly is way ahead of ao as far as a 4 for duke. the kid handles the ball better that olander as a 4, can shoot from all over and so on(hes actually what i hope olander turns into somewhat to be honest)...i'm not sure duke is the right school for him if hes looking to play asap and put up stats. somewhere like a uva/md or even bc would prob give him mor minutes and a better chance stats wise. duke would be the name and the coaching but he only has 1 year of on court play to prove himself for a next level of any sort.

Mentioned in the article(unnamed source) about Austin Rivers to the NBA, that AO could be speaking to them if he doesn't have to wait out a year. Leaving UCONN to play for Duke would be twisting the knife.

AO is not as good as either Plumlee, maybe every once in a while but not always.........both are better defensively and offensively and that's not saying much......

yeah, I could see it. I think it is a great match. And AO although he at times looks soft through our eyes and Big East lenses would be the toughest mamajama in the ACC. He is the exact type of big Duke never gets. I can't think of anyone other than Elton Brand who has Oriakhis upside on a Duke team. Don't tell me Shelden Williams he was so soft he made AO look like a hardened criminal.
