Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?

This along with the recruiting class makes it clear he is able to get a lot of talent. The issue, at least for me, is that even with all that talent, he was only able to win 2 conference titles in 10 years and only had a double digit win season once in an atrocious MAC.
I guess it's a good thing we don't have to worry about winning conference championships then

We need someone that can keep the current success going. Averaging 8 wins per year would be incredible.

We have a couple good years and it's like people are getting big heads about it...

Becareful, unless you are adamant about playing in the CFP and winning a national championship in football every year, people on this board get butt hurt.

I think this is the true root cause of the anti-football UConn contingent. They're used to pro sports where they expect their NY or new england team to win the Superbowl/world series/NBA championship etc every single season and it's a disappointment if they don't. They know we can't win the CFB playoff given our circumstances so they don't even want to play the sport. It's like they get second hand embarrassment from it or something

My point is that he had the better talent in the field for 9 out of the 12 games they played each season and he has consistently only won 6 of those. Here he would the better talent 6 out of 12, that would put a hard ceiling on our team.

Let's not forget how livid we were after Rice and Delaware this year.

So who could we hire that is better, given where we are, who would be better?

A lot of people on Twitter are saying Candle would be a good fit for the newly available Iowa State job. What happens if he’s accepted our offer but then Iowa State calls?
Because he coached with Campbell? I never get this. How many times has a bigger school hired consecutive coaches from a smaller school? I'd love to see instances of that happening.

Toledo is like a pipeline of sorts for them.

Iowa State is in overdrive trying to keep Campbell.

That would mean we are still in the market for a coach.

Wtf? Who da fook? An FCS guy over a guy who has gone 81-44 in FBS who is like 50 years old. Are you kidding me?
Lol, lmao even.

Chesney: 67% winning percentage at Holy Cross, guess where they played?

Cahill: 64% winning percentage at Lehigh.

Chesney is now off to UCLA.

While we're waiting for confirmation of whether Candle signed with us or Iowa State, I thought the board might get a chuckle out of this post of comparing the danger potential of mascots:

Ironic that Toledo has the apex logo.

Where did Chesney come from before JMU?
Let’s be fair. Cheney is not heading to UCLA because of what he accomplished at Holy Cross. He’s heading to UCLA because he has James Madison University on the cusp of actually making the FBS Playoffs. Frankly, it’s hard to read that sentence and not think there must be a typo in it somewhere.

They got UNLV 100% wrong. A southerner in civil war garb armed with a shotgun is at least as threatening to humans as an ICBM.

The obvious point is JMU hired the successful Patriot league coach and did very well. We are on JMU's level, not UCLA's.

To be fair, he came into a program that was already going extremely well. Cignetti had them set up pretty well. UCLA will be a different kettle of fish. He’ll be asked to rebuild a program that is absolutely #2 in its market to Southern Cal.

My god we were in the top 20 in total offense and top 10 in passing and near top 20 if not in in scoring. I think we had an offensive mind.
Sorry, what I meant was a head coach with extensive experience offensively. Mora, Diaco, Edsall were all defense first guys (but Mora certainly understood we needed to score points the last few years). Candle started out as an OC before being head coach and his offenses were always strong at Toledo

Let's be fair, where did I say Chesney was going to UCLA because of his Holy Cross days?

The obvious point, which I'm surprised someone as smart as you missed, is that Chesney was successful in the Patriot League, has been successful in a top G5 team and is now off to a P2 team.

Cahill, has been very successful in the Patriot League and is poised for a move up to the FBS. Easy to see the similarities
