Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?

His name is Vince Kehres and he has been at Toledo since 2020. Before that he was head coach at D3 powerhouse Mount Union where he had a 95-6 record!
Apparently also in the running for DC at Nebraska and Michigan State

White smoke from football facility!

Terry Smith comes from Penn State and he's bringing at least the starting QB who was impressive, a star LB and at least one starting WR and CB. We could use them. Any Penn Stste players are better than comps on UConn. We have a lot of holes to fill. Terry is 56, 4-5 years younger than Mora was. I'll overlook his age for everything else he brings.
We’ll beat PSU in a bowl game. Our guys better.

This would be an A+ hire. He's beat P4 teams before and had a lot of really close games against ranked P4 teams. I think with our resources he can do even better than he has.
Actually Toledo has better resources than the rest of the MAC teams. On the Toledo board many liked him better as the OC than head coach.

Does anyone know what defense Toledo ran? I am praying it wasnt a 3-3-5
4-2-5. But their DC will not be coming to UConn if Candle takes UConn job. DC being highly coveted by P4 schools. Will be getting nice payday.

If it ends up being Smith, I would think that would be tremendous.

I think we would be in great shape despite the loss of Mora and the recruits.

There's still plenty of talent out there to salvage a decent class.

With Smith, UConn would continue climbing. I have no doubt about that.

I want nothing to do with Smith

His resume is really, really thin. Huge jump from what he's been doing to running a program.

11 NFL draft picks in his tenure. UConn has only had 6.
This along with the recruiting class makes it clear he is able to get a lot of talent. The issue, at least for me, is that even with all that talent, he was only able to win 2 conference titles in 10 years and only had a double digit win season once in an atrocious MAC.

I guess it's a good thing we don't have to worry about winning conference championships then

We need someone that can keep the current success going. Averaging 8 wins per year would be incredible.

We have a couple good years and it's like people are getting big heads about it...

Becareful, unless you are adamant about playing in the CFP and winning a national championship in football every year, people on this board get butt hurt.

I think this is the true root cause of the anti-football UConn contingent. They're used to pro sports where they expect their NY or new england team to win the Superbowl/world series/NBA championship etc every single season and it's a disappointment if they don't. They know we can't win the CFB playoff given our circumstances so they don't even want to play the sport. It's like they get second hand embarrassment from it or something

My point is that he had the better talent in the field for 9 out of the 12 games they played each season and he has consistently only won 6 of those. Here he would the better talent 6 out of 12, that would put a hard ceiling on our team.

Let's not forget how livid we were after Rice and Delaware this year.

So who could we hire that is better, given where we are, who would be better?

A lot of people on Twitter are saying Candle would be a good fit for the newly available Iowa State job. What happens if he’s accepted our offer but then Iowa State calls?
Because he coached with Campbell? I never get this. How many times has a bigger school hired consecutive coaches from a smaller school? I'd love to see instances of that happening.

Cahill. He built up a 2-9 program to 12-0 while being limited in not being able to offer scholarships.

Toledo is like a pipeline of sorts for them.

Iowa State is in overdrive trying to keep Campbell.

That would mean we are still in the market for a coach.
