12-10 in bowl games. 22 appearances overall. I'll sign up for that too.
I could see Penn State 3rd stringers. Penn Stare 1st and 2nd stringers will be in high demand - large NIL checks. With Campbell to Penn State, seems like Smith could actually happen. I think there’s reason for optimism with that, mainly in that players will come here. Portal has changed everything in CFB, rosters flip & talent is available, need a guy who can manage it & get players here. Mora helped UConn a ton: he set the foundation for spending, operations etc & he really started winning once he got talent in the door. He didn’t all the sudden become a better coach: he had Skyler Bell & Joey F to win him games now. UConn’s goal should be to be the more talented team against its schedule outside of the P4 teams. Coaching obviously matters but I want a guy who can pull talent.
MACTION. Tuesday night game night!Toledo is ranked higher than UConn in the SP+ rankings. The MAC plays consistently good football.
None of us really believe UConn today is a better program than Clemson, Nebraska, Penn State, LSU, FSU... I mean even with our record, I don't think we beat those teams this year. So, there is no external reference and it’s just whatever the best programs you feel like they should be. Rankings aren’t perfect by any means but they do reflect some general assessment.
Oh I fully believe we beat FSU and give Clemson a game this year. Penn St, Nebraska and even LSU's defense will allow 10 points for us MAX.None of us really believe UConn today is a better program than Clemson, Nebraska, Penn State, LSU, FSU... I mean even with our record, I don't think we beat those teams this year.
Toledo scored a touchdown with 1:35 left to take the lead, and ND came back and scored one in 35 seconds to beat them.Toledo should've beat #5 Notre Dame in 2021-2022. I remember the game well, Toledo outplayed them.
Was his hiring announced? It already happened, Jason Candle is our next head coach.
Was his hiring announced?
It's Kyle Flood?? 😭
Fixed it for you.None of us really believe UConn today is a better program than Clemson, Nebraska, Penn State, LSU, FSU yet.... I mean even with our record, I don't think we beat all of those teams this year.
His name is Vince Kehres and he has been at Toledo since 2020. Before that he was head coach at D3 powerhouse Mount Union where he had a 95-6 record!Their offense is Top 50 in the country, run heavy - but the Defense was 4th in the country in points allowed and 2nd in the country in yards per play! Hell yeah I hope he takes his DC with him and we keep Sammis to be the OC!
No pun intended. It's just a smoke so far. But there's a lot of it.
top 2026 eligible players from Toledo:A couple studs on defense too. MLB with 85 tackles and a few solid secondary players.
I'm liking Candle. 46 yo and been with Toledo for 17 years or so, HC for 10. Maybe time to move on. Very well spoken. No P4 experience but never a losing season.
Does not stop BY to push the rumor. DB has many on speed dial.Is it really Candle? I see zero online about it
I'm still holding my breath for Mullin or Malzahn, but Candle seems to be a solid hire too.Does not stop BY to push the rumor. DB has many on speed dial.
Calhoun was born in Mass, coached at Northeastern for 14 years and came to UConn at 44 yo. It tracks! This guy has the type of profile that could become the football program's Jim Calhoun. I know, it's silly to think lightning can strike twice,...... but then, the 2014 tournament happened just a few years after the 2011 tournament.
you are probably right butWe shouldn’t jump the gun, AD David Benedict could be flying to Toledo to recruit him in person, might not be done, especially if Iowa State comes calling…
