Another J Ross thread?...Yep

Looks like game is slowing down for Ross and he's trusting his talent/hard work. Great to see. BTW-Setting a great example for his younger brother to follow in future seasons.
Really does - and he's allowing the defensive plays to come to him vs overdoing it.

I've been wondering how his brother is doing in practices.

“That was something I definitely struggled with in the past,” he said. “I think I've gotten a lot better at playing more relaxed but also bringing that same energy. It's taken a lot of work. I put in a lot of work over the summer, in terms of being able to be ready, mentally, for those moments. I feel a lot more comfortable and confident in those big spots where my team needs me, offensively, defensively, just being able to come through, trust my game, trust my teammates and trust the work I've put in.”

Not sure what crow I’m eating on Ross. I’m on record numerous times that I didn’t have to squint hard to see him developing into a really valuable 3 and D wing, which is literally exactly what has happened this year. And as I’ve said many times, I would like nothing more than to eat crow next year if Ross develops to the level you believe he will. That would be incredible for this team.

I don’t want to get into a thing on Ball. The point was that it’s possible for a player to develop, which as you mention Ball clearly has in areas of his game this year like creating his own shot, while not getting to 100% of hypothetical potential. So that risk needs to be considered in recruiting. Take Demary off this team and start Solo as PG and we’re not even a tournament team, which I think we can both agree would not have been a positive outcome this year.

This is what MOST said. He’s lumping in everyone on the train that Ross sucks and should never play. Most said he hadn’t shown enough for legitimate minutes but if he shows glimpses of development he can be this exact guy, which is a good role player. Now he’s a good role player and this poster wants everyone to bow to him.

Frankly, my biggest objection in that offseason debate was him claiming THE reason Ross wasn’t showing enough is b/c Hurley didn’t emphasize development and didn’t let him play through his mistakes. THAT was his main take.

The argument around Ball with him would be worth venturing into - it would be that it was Hurley's responsibility, because of his size, to develop him into a PG here at UConn to set him up for the NBA.

Meanwhile, there is no recognition of his foot speed, lateral quickness, ability to body up, far too high a center of gravity and a fairly iffy handle to date.

Lighting strikes every now and then as it comes to Ross.

Btw so there’s no confusion with goofies trying to make it out to seem like I’m trying to say Ross will be Kemba or something.

My official position going to next year if he’s a starter is he’ll fall in line with Andre and Castle as far as role, importance, and impact.

Calling him a 7th man at best for his career on the likes of Joey C and Kromah just sounds like a backhanded compliment from people who have to eat crow for not thinking he was even capable of being as good as he is now. And he’s scratching the surface still.

I’m ready for him to take all the confidence he’s playing with now into an offseason knowing he’s going to be a trusted Hurley player and one of the main guys for the team. If things shake out roster wise for him to be a starter.

How exciting is it to see a player blossom like this, and wonder what the eventual high point will be for Jayden. I will be along for the ride fo sho! Keep climbing JRoss!

Hurley has been seeing what we see now in Ross in practices over the last years which is why he was always so high on him. And we would watch him come into games and play tight. When you have the physical talent that he has it’s all mental.

His Ross posts are pretty much all directed at me. Apparently I thought Ross sucked because I thought he'd be the 9th man in an 8 man rotation. Was definitely wrong about the minutes despite never actually thinking Ross sucked

He’s acted since day 1 like everyone that didn’t agree with him thought Ross sucked. That was never the tone of the convos. But yeah I’m sure you’re 1 of his main targets.
