If he is averaging 15+ppg come march this is a F4 team and likely a top 3 seed.I feel like it's somewhere between solid or exploding onto the scene. My expectation is at least 10 points from looking at Stanley Robinson's sophomore year as another guy who was pretty much an athlete working on his scoring skills. If we want to really compete the my hope would be him exploding on the scene averaging 15. I mean he has all the tools to be so successful if he can just figure it out on the offensive end.
My opinion, different type of player AJ is not a scorer 1st type like Kemba and Shabazz. He is pretty well balanced player with the exception of a jumper.

For context here are the top 10 single season apg leaders in UConn history.
1.Marcus Williams, 2004-05 7.8
2.Taliek Brown, 2003-04 6.5
3.Earl Kelley, 1985-86 6.4
4.Kevin Ollie, 1994-95 6.4
5.Karl Hobbs, 1983-84 6.4
6.Kevin Ollie, 1993-94 6.1
7.Jalen Adams, 2016-17 6.1
8.Doron Sheffer, 1995-96 6.1
9.Tate George, 1986-87 6.0
10.Shabazz Napier, 2011-12 5.8
Are Williams’ 2005-06 stats wiped out due to the suspension? I thought he averaged an insane 8.6 apg that season. Also, does Sheffer own the top single-season, all-time asst/turnover ratio… he only averaged 0.5 turnovers in 95-96. Pretty amazing. Not related, but I always felt that Doron’s 3-pt stroke was under appreciated. 40% shooter beyond the arc in his three years in Storrs.
He didn’t need it in high school and was injured over the summer last year. I’d be surprised if he isn’t working on it now.I find it mind-boggling that a wing would not have a pull-up to their respective offensive arsenal
Love the optimism but this is pure insanity. Jackson won't come close to leading the conference in apg, and he likely won't even lead his own team there. Jackson's future in the NBA may be as some hybrid point forward type, but since he can't shoot right now and we have two returning pg's and Sool coming in I struggle to see us handing the keys to the offense over to him enough for him to get his assists up anywhere near this.If he stays on the court longer than last year. Why not! He has court vision. That would be awesome to lead the conference in apg.
Really like the defensive end part, no doubt. I think he is more on par point wise to reach double digits, rebs is good but I think 5/6 ast. could be reachable for him. Time on the court dictates that though.7pts / 6reb / 3ast. Will also make massive contributions on the defensive end.
I'm amazed Jalen Adams was on that list. Who the hell was he passing to?For context here are the top 10 single season apg leaders in UConn history.

Fully agree with your assessment, including why his reputation lags. As to his APG not ranking as #1, I add the following:Not sure - it's possible the was a games played requirement as he would have only player in maybe 2/3rds the games.
I tend to think Marcus Williams gets pretty underrated in terms of UConn greats because of a) laptops b) The 06 team in general and c) underwhelming pro career. He was a fantastic college PG though.
Kid is going to be a problem. There's no reason why he won't be able to beat his man off the dribble and get to the basket this year. He'll be a nice point-forward

I mean there's only two different kinds of points shots can be worth. It’s easy to say anything about anyone based on a highlight films against Central Connecticut. But this kid has a long way to go. Teams left him wide open at the 3 point line knowing he not only couldn’t shoot but wouldn’t even think about it. And he relied on his quickness to play defense, not fundamentals which is why he send too much time in foul trouble. He was either a lazy defender or an “ uneducated” one. He had some highlight reel dunks, but those are only worth 2 points.

Forgot about the FTs... 2 points still 2 points. No matter how they come.3 types...FT, 2pt, 3pt
I think he's further along than you think. He was slow guarding his man but was very good in other areas. He couldn't shoot the ball and that's his biggest area that he needs to improve on. What I'm saying is I don't think we'll see him be a three point shooter this year but there shouldn't be a reason he can't beat his man off the dribble to get to the basket or a pull-up floaterIt’s easy to say anything about anyone based on a highlight films against Central Connecticut. If he gets some kind of jump shot, not necessarily a 3pt shot he will be very dangerous to guard. But he needs to shoot the ball better for the defense's to be honest. Hope his time spent in the gym since the season ended pays off. He's a determined kid.I think he's further along than you think. He was slow guarding his man but was very good in other areas.
