Guys, I beg you: please stop feeding this troll. The board is becoming insufferable.

True wisdom.

I'll stop commenting on the thread. The UConn fans are already well versed in the money situation, the independence situation, the tv contract situation. I'm not typing for anyone's benefit here, other than to feed a troll. Time to just let it go...

It is pretty clear what the real options are:

....receive a P5 invite
....make the best of it in the AAC...

The AAC's main option is to improve and maybe get people talking about there being a budding P6.

The Alliance – 2016-17 Sagarin
JMU: #33
Temple: #43
Navy: #61
Army: #87
Nova: #106
Cincinnati: #117
UConn: #154
Delaware: #181

Of course, the FCS schools are ranked head to head against the FBS schools without any curve for fewer resources. They have not had the benefit of being in a former BCS structure or a current G5. They would likely improve with the resources. And we would expect Cincy and UConn to bounce back from their current levels.

Sagarin?

So James Madison is #33.....meanwhile Georgia is #38....Notre Dame is #51... Texas at #60....But what exactly does that mean in their desirability for an addition? JMU is comparable to those listed above?

Because they had a good year in 2016 against a bad schedule?......(they did go 14-1...but with a schedule ranked #152 in toughness.) They didn't play a single top 30 team...and maybe not a top 50.

Sagarin Ratings previous years...

2015....113
2014....130
2013....131
2012....150
2011....122

lol, so for the last 6 consecutive years JMU's Sagarin is higher than UConn's last year! JMU has 2 National Championships. For all of the years that UConn played in FCS, they had no title game appearances. JMU ain't no ND, UT, or Georgia, but neither is UConn.

UConn is a desirable program imho. It has emerged from the 1990s from an FCS football program and an also ran basketball program, to a G5 also ran football program and a basketball powerhouse. For that success, including the very modest success in football, some UConn fans are pretty condescending.

UConn is a nice program, but you are no Notre Dame.

Zissou...in full disclosure...the rest of this board knows that I am an FSU guy who is interested in CR.....and while not a basketball fan nor particularly a UConn lover, I think that they and Cincy are the last two P5 looking teams in the East.

The difference between UConn and JMU is that UConn has had elite basketball....and also IMHO has more potential in football.

Folks down here (I am in my North Carolina mountain place) would laugh at any comparison between JMU and UConn....

Tarheels, Dukies...they all respect UConn's program...as do all ACC basketball programs.

Elite basketball no doubt, that's why I used the term powerhouse. Football, not so much as I stated. You don't think basketball drives P5 CR, do you?

Full disclosure, I am a Nova fan that would love to see UConn and its elite basketball in the Big East.

Late to the party are yee...but yes...we have fully developed the topic of the football driven nature of recent CR...ad nauseum.

But things are not static...cable boxes were important, they may not be in the future. Football has driven the media contracts, but they didn't always do so.

What will always be desired are match ups in basketball and football that people will pay to watch, or advertisers will pay to advertise.

Uconn-Duke, UConn-UNC, UConn-Cuse, UConn-Ohio State, UConn-Michigan, UConn-Notre Dame...all would be example of high value match ups.

Sure some BE match ups might draw eyeballs too...but I am not sure that it would be on the same scale.

UConn will be the next P5 add from the east...period.

Thanks, BB for bringing some clarity and truth to the discussion. BTW, you should know that JMU is affectionately referred to as "Just Missed U". This is because the student body is comprised of kids who just missed getting accepted to UVA.

No shame in just missing at UVA. JMU is no UVA, but it is a good school. Look down your noses all you want, but JMU won 2 football national championships. UConn has 0. JMU football is respectable.

Of course UConn to the P5 is the preference. It's just not there.

In football, abc-Duke, abc-UNC, abc-Cuse, abc-Ohio State, abc-Michigan, abc-Notre Dame...all would be example of high value match ups. UConn isn't the big national draw in those match-ups, the other school is. Plug in Temple, Cincy, or JMU and you still have high value match ups.

Just curious - you here in South FL?

UConn is a nice program, but you are no Notre Dame.
Not sure what sport you're talking about or just athletics in general, but I don't think Geno or Chris Daily would take kindly to your comment since they lead in the head to head series 35-11.

No of course not, Football is the only bus driver in the ACC. I mean everyone can't wait for the next Duke-North Carolina game in football.

Please. Duke, UNC and Cuse are not the same value as OSU, Michigan and ND. Any school brings in rating with those three (among others). The AAC doesn't have those schools so how would JMU, Villanova and Delaware add enough to raise the value of the AAC media contract? You still haven't shown how they would.

UCONN - Boston College isn't a high value match up???? Are you serious and blind as well? Even UCONN vs Syracuse or BC in a football game in the all important NYC to Boston corridor market would out draw ANY other combination of teams from the ACC. That's why UCONN and it's high academic standing is P5 bound. Temple, Cincinnati, and JMU are good schools but just cannot compete or draw on the NCAA stage like UCONN has and will continue to. UCONN has 22 national championships in D1 major college sports, which is more than Temple, Cinncinatti and JMU have combined.

UConn women's basketball is one of the most incredible dynasties in sports. It means zero for CR.

BC was not one of the listed match-ups. BC-UConn has a rivalry aspect that other foes would not bring to the table. Just like a FBS JMU-Virginia Tech would have more juice than a UConn-VT.

Lol...JMU - VT in the Northeast would probably get beat in its time slot by pro bowling or lacrosse.

BC-UConn would not draw many eyes in the south. BC-UConn would draw in New England. FBS JMU-VT would draw in Va, more than VT-UConn.
