The shoulder was supposed to have been fine at the start of last year. Hopefully this shows the new approach has provided some improvement

Actually it wasn't. He tweaked it a little bit late in the summer, and decided to wait for a stronger brace.

I appreciate the response and I hope you don’t take offense to this, but I wouldn’t let you coach my left nut. Stick to what you’re good at which is understanding that coaches are coaches and people are people.

You teach the dip. Trainers who don’t are doing it wrong.
Interesting!
What is the best coordination between the dip and 'shot pocket'? Is there a shot pocket move in every dip shooter (or 90%) or are dips sometimes incorporated into a fluid launch almost from the hip ala Curry off the dribble or even (with obvious other flaws) Lonzo Ball?
Ray seems to do all 3, a dip, then ball into shot pocket for jump, then the shot at top of jump.

I've taught (and done myself) immediately getting ball to shot pocket (a comfortable spot at or to side of shoulder) and even encourage passer to hit shooters right in the shot pocket = they can immediately launch on the catch. Again Klay Thompson a great example of this. But maybe that doesn't work for some players and for those with less strength.

An unquestionably big problem in youth hoops is players launching 3's well before they are strong enough and developing bad habits. You can discourage this in games/practice all you want, but facts are when kids are on their own they will shoot 3's the second they figure out a way to get the ball to the rim from 20' - this is often at 9 or 10yrs old.

I know there's more spacing in today's game/NBA ... but facts are in basketball getting into your shot quickly still matters a lot. I could see primarily shot pocket and 2 step style for certain types of shooters & especially mid-range, but then teaching a dip for 3-pt specialists. Of course don't want to teach any one player two different things - consistency in either style is key.
Maybe stronger kids teach shot pocket and weaker the dip?
Taller kids can use a 2-motion shot, shorter dip & launch?

If he isn't a head man how does that explain the gag order?

It's been a month since our last AG update. Forget 2019 recruits, I want to feel good about this year. Someone get on this.

Heard he feels great and is good to go. He realizes that he needs to "mix up" his game with some 3 point shooting as well as going to the hole. This surgery was totally different, and he feels a lot less restricted and healthy than at this time last year.

To be blunt he is the key to whether we dance this year or not. Not exactly breaking news!

Look for them to bring him along slowly. Hurley knows how important he is.

BF, do you know what the status is as far as a brace goes? I'msure he'll wear something. Just hoping it isn't some gargantuan monstrosity or anything that is too restrictive

That hasn't been decided as far as I know. The one thing I've heard is that the "stability" of the shoulder is much stronger than the past surgeries.

I've been waiting to watch Alterique play since they signed him, like really play, catch his mid-season stride, because this guy is a dynamic player whose presence on the court runs through the team. He and Jalen are gonna be terrific this year.

So looking forward to this!

This kid when right should be a stud and could be as impactful as Jalen is to the team, as I recall we saw some evidence of it last year?

For me he's our next stud, I'm most excited about him than any recruit we can get. I know there are a lot of ifs, but when we get back to the promised land, I think he'll be the reason why....always felt that way.
