Loo-Ville was good under Petrino.
But didn't his leaving coinside with them coming to the BE.
They promply fell off the cliff
I remember thinking we got taken on this deal.
Their BBall was also in a funk until Ricky rescued it.Even Denny Crums last years were pretty bad.
I remember missing the NCAA's because our strenth of schedule was weak that year.
We had beaten a pretty bad Louisville team. It was fodder for the UK board.
KY was my second home for 30 years. We had over 200 workers in our plant and and only one Louisville fan.
Most people would have preferred a local high school game then watching the Cardinals.
The State University plays for more than the school. They identify with UK because they feel the School represents them.
Its the same feeling the post WWII veterans had when ARMY played NAVY in the 50's and 60's
Those teams were much bigger than the Schools. If you were in the Army you were for Army.
It also accounts for a small state like Nebraska having such a following.
We had a Big 12 womens golf tourney at my home course.
The Nebraska people had large signs made to support their girls.
To a lesser degree Connecticut citizens are similar for basketball.
Our football team never got Joe sixpack to feel apart of their team.
