I'm sorry, but Taliek Brown and Rashad Anderson do not belong on this team. The fact that you have Taliek starting over Kemba is a joke. Seriously, give me one thing Taliek did better than Kemba.
How could you have an alltime team without Toby Kimball? He averaged 18.4 points and 17.9 rebounds for his career. He went to a final 8. He led the nation in rebounding. They played bball at UConn prior to 1990.

With instant everything (i.e. internet) many posters forget to, or don't, read the archives. In there you will also find Corny Thompson. It takes work to find them, beyond Google. But we are showing our age. One day even Donyell will be forgotten.
Well not that old, but I did see him play once and was of an age where the name was great. My father & my uncle took a cousin and I to the UConn-BC NCAA tourney game at URI. Cousy coached BC at the time. I also remember my mother was hosting a shower for her cousin and it my father wanted to get as far away as possible. But look at his stats...He scored 28/game one year when there was no 3-point line. He had 50 one time. If the 3-point line had existed he'd have averaged 40 points a game.

I haven't taken a shot at this for a while. I'm going with the Calhoun era as I don't really have any idea about the kids before that and even then, the first 5 years or so I didn't follow them rabidly, so I don't know guys like Smith of Cliff. I'm also going at it from a team perspective, not necessarily the 13 best players, but the players you want for a team.
As many have said, the starting 5 are pretty much a lock, but that team has some defensive weakness that needs to be dealt with. So, here is how I go:
PG: Kemba
SG: Ray
SF: Rip
PF: Donyell
C: Emeka
To fix some of the defensive issues and for general toughness, first three off the bench, Moore, Caron, Freeman
You need another real point guard and shooting guard - Khalid, Gordon
Every team needs a sharpshooter to get you back in the game (remember UMass?) - Rashad
It's a little guard and wing heavy, so for depth up front, Villanueva and Jake
That leaves you with the following possibilities by position
PG: Kemba, Khalid, Moore, Gordon
SG: Ray, Gordon, Khalid, Rip
SF: Rip, Caron, Rashad, Ray, Villanueva
PF: Donyell, Freeman, Villanueva, Caron
C: Emeka, Jake, Villanueva
Rocket Team, Kemba, Gordon, Ray, Villanueva, Emeka
Huge Team, Gordon, Rip, Villanueva, Donyell, Jake
3pt Team, Khalid, Gordon, Rashad, Donyell, Villanueva
Defensive Team, Moore, Gordon, Caron, Freeman, Emeka
Where does Johnny Selvie fit into all of this?
Gotta add ray to the 3pt team man

He averaged 28 per game without the 3 point line. Ray Allen's best season he averaged 23.5 and Ray could shoot the 3. He had 105 3 pointers I only saw him play that once, but from everything I heard and read he could shoot and he could shoot from long range, so I suspect that there isn't too much exaggeration in my estimate. Jeez, the guy scored 50 points in a game once, again without a 3 pointer in the bunch. You do realize that you're claiming he would average 12 three-pointers a game, right? We'll just chalk that one up to a little hyperbole.
Yeah that was a miss. Move Ben to the one, remove Khalid and slot Ray in the two.Gotta add ray to the 3pt team man
Fredette averaged 3.35 threes per game in the 2010-2011 season (124 in 37 games). I was wondering how you got 2 if he made 134 since he couldn't have played in anywhere close to 67 games. So take 3.35 off his 28.9 ppg average and yes he would have averaged about 25 ppg.Look, I admitted that 40 was exaggerated. But from all accounts the guy could shoot the lights out. But even if he "only" averaged 32 points a game instead of 28 that would have been pretty incredible. Jimmer Fredette averaged 2/game in 2011 with 134 3s. Without the 3s (ie deducting 1 point from his total for each, he averaged about 25 ppg) .
typo is how. I meant to write 29/game and 124 3s. Take his total points subtract 124 then divide by games and you get 25.5 +-. But at the end of the day, you have to admit that if a guy averages 28/game with 0 three pointers, he was a pretty fair scorer.Fredette averaged 3.35 threes per game in the 2010-2011 season (124 in 37 games). Saw Wes play quite a few times, cousin was manager at the time got free tix, if the 3pt shot was in then no one would come close in total pts and that is for three years.Wes Bialasuknia averaged more than 20 points a game, 28 one season. And that was before the 3 point shot. And Toby Kimball was a legitimate NBA player. Both belong on any all-time team without any apologies. People want to put Villanueva and Drummond...yipes. Why not Bynum. He played almost as much for UConn as Drummond...
Rip over Rudy
Emeka over Drummond (subject to change a few years down the road, if we're using NBA success)
Donyell has to be on the team, even though I know he missed the two foul shots. If we're being honest with positions, he'd be the starting 4, but I'm okay with Caron playing 4 in a smaller lineup.
If NBA means anything, Cliffy should get a spot on the bench.
Do we go back in the day and consider Toby Kimball or Wes "the Poughkeepsie Popper" B. (maybe the only guy who would ever make you prefer to spell Poughkeepsie over his name)?

Dude no offense because I loved Denham, but he is nowhere near the conversation when it comes to an all-time team. Not even remotely close. At all.is everyone gonna forget about Denham Brown I know it gets harder and harder to put together an all-time Uconn team
