12/27 highlights:
Me think that when Paige drives to the basket against people like ONO in college, she is going to get a few of those shots swatted down.
12/27 highlights:
I'm willing to bet that Paige makes a lot more shots driving to the basket then those shots being blocked!Me think that when Paige drives to the basket against people like ONO in college, she is going to get a few of those shots swatted down.

I tried watching, but the video would freeze after 20 seconds or so. I gave up after a few attempts. Thanks for the report!Just watched a replay of the game. Hopkins won 97-79. The star of the game was Adalia McKenzie of Park Center who had 42 points in a loss. She shot 12-13 for 27 points in the 1st half. McKenzie has a college-ready body and enough speed to get behind the Hopkins defenders in transition a half dozen times. PC just couldn't match up to Hopkins' size. Bueckers was Bueckers. Watching her play an entire game against a good opponent you see everything wrong she does, something those highlights never shows. There is never much but tonight her one-on-one defense would not have earned AA. She picked up 4 fouls guarding McKenzie. But she also looked like the next pg for UConn. Her 30 points came mostly off drives and mid-range jumpers. She consistently found open shooters and had quite a few rebounds in the game. A game worth watching.

McKenzie was averaging 31.6 ppg as of last week. She is reportedly the top Minnesota player in the Class of 2021. HoopGurlz does not have her in their top 60 nationally.

The announcer said when Paige goes to UConn, as a freshman she will be one of the top 15 or 20 players in the country. He said he didn't know what Geno could teach her. How about defense? Her man, McKenzie scored 40 points. Paige still has a lot to learn.
Yeah. I think the things Geno will complain about initially is Paige's defense (as in "Can we get some defense from Ms. All Everything", or "I guess we only got the offensive AA/we need to see the defensive AA" or maybe he'll just pull out another chair), her need to get stronger and her conditioning. Believe me, she will take that stuff to heart and improve considerably by March 2021. But I don't see her taking the WCBB world by storm on day one. However, Fudd may be a different story. There are not enough superlatives to completely describe Paige’s game. Poise, vision, leadership are just a few that come to mind. But Paige will need to be a better defensive player at UConn. She needs to work harder on defense, get back on defense in transition and improve her defensive stance.
I’m not particularly worried though. I observed the same deficiencies last year in the 4 HS games I watched Aubrey play, and look what kind of defender she has become at UConn. In Paige and Aubrey’s defense, it’s not easy to have the ball in your hands all the time on offense and also play shutdown defense, particularly in HS where very few players develop college level defensive skills.
Geno will also have the ability to sit Paige down and insert Nika in the lineup. That should get her attention.Yeah. @MilfordHusky re the video freezing after twenty seconds. If you have been to Minnesota in January, you would know that nearly everything freezes after twenty seconds or so .I tried watching, but the video would freeze after 20 seconds or so. I gave up after a few attempts. Thanks for the report!
