Alex is back!

People getting their Underoos in a bunch because they feel random social media accounts are "disrespecting" our team is funny.

2x National Champeens, folks. Be happy, not mad.

Last two champs, that is.

That's comical, Vegas made us the favorite to win the national championship next season once Karaban said he's coming back.
We can all agree Vegas is right about UConn but they’ve got some other teams really wrong.
Zona and Duke over Kansas and Houston?
UK and Purdue over Bama and Baylor??
MSU and Florida over ISU and Gonzaga???

Smiling happy Olga
Not really.

Olga and her husband, Alexei, have always stressed education, to the point where even after Alex fell in love with the program on his official visit, Olga still wasn't satisfied until she learned about UConn's educational opportunities. And so, one of the tiebreakers had to be education, right?

"To tell you the truth, it didn't," Olga said. "Because, regardless, if he stayed (in the draft), he would finish his education. So, it was strictly what's best for him for his basketball career."

2006 team was pretty deep, the only one that was this deep

Jeff Adrien
Hilton Armstrong
Rudy Gay
Marcus Williams
Marcus Johnson
Josh Boone
Craig Austrie
Rashad Anderson
Ed Nelson
Denham Brown

10 deep. 5 future NBA players. 4 first round draft picks. 1 superstar.
While true, this was always a bit of fool's gold. Sure, 5 future NBA players, 3 of which did virtually nothing and were out of the league in 4 years. And only one true ball handler among the lot of them, which is largely what did them in against GMU

Diarra has to play more than 15.
OMG, I didn't even see that at first. Utter nonsense. He played more minutes than that this season off the bench behind a 1st team All American and a guy that could go in the top 5 in the draft. I'd say Hass is closer to 30 mpg than 15 mpg

Why?

I see Ball and Mahaney as bigger factors, and with Karaban being able to handle the ball and run offense, we'll see 10 minutes each game with no Nowell and Diarra out there. You can run offense with Mahaney, Ball and Karaban.
I doubt there will be many minutes in any game without one of either Diarra or Nowell on the floor. And quite a few minutes with both.

I mean, we don't know what any of our current guys are going to do in the league. I hope they last a long time. But there's no way to know. Would you be shocked if Sanogo was in Europe earning $$$ 4 yrs from now?

The point is that 2006 was a very talented team.

are we at all worried about any of these guys jumping in the portal next year? I really hope we can keep mcneeley but who knows if he'll get upset from having limited minutes.
You mean, like Castle ?

I don't disagree, but the hindsight view of the 2006 team isn't quite as rosy as it was in 2006. Sanogo is a bad example. He was a great college player that just doesn't necessarily fit the model for how the NBA does things in 2024. Right now I'd say Castle, Hawkins, and Clingan will play a long time in the league. Some other guys may have long role player careers, as well. We'll see. Thing is, the same thing applied in 2006 and as it turned out, there was one star, one role player, and 3 others that got a cup of coffee in the NBA. Hard to say if Jackson, Sanogo, or Newton will stick as role players or just have a cup of coffee.

The Athletic ranked us #7 AFTER the news of Karaban coming back (they have bama #1). The serial disrespect to the team year after year is stupid. Guess we'll have to prove the "experts" wrong yet again.
Vegas knows what's going on though...UConn is the odds-on favorite at +900.
gary parrish lol, no surprise here. He's always had an axe to grind

Selfishly so excited to see Alex for a third year. So crazy to think that this is a player most teams would kill for to have as their 1st or 2nd option. I’m just stoked to see what this next level of Alex looks like under the Hurley & Co. Development factory.

Garry Parrish. That POS picked Purdue in the Championship game. There are a lot of worthless individuals out there who draw good paychecks blathering like they are freaking gurus. These guys will always be welded to Kansas, Duke, North Carolina and Kentucky. But I must say, making them eat their words is fun.

It's wild that a guy is a "POS" for allegedly picking a 1 seed to beat another 1 seed (for the record, I think he predicted that Purdue would cover 6 1/2) but on the bracket show every CBS personality picked UConn to win the title from the start. On ESPN's March Madness preview show the same day every panelist picked UConn to win the title from the start. I read an article in, maybe, the Athletic where 20 of the 22 pundits picked the same team to win the whole thing. Guess which team? This idea that there is some vendetta against UConn is so tired and small-time at this point.

Picking us number 5-7 in preseason polls how is that disrespect lol losing 4 starters from the best team of all time.

Look at it through the lens of a general sports fan. Would you pick a team going for 3 in a row or the field.

Parrish is basically a reasonable, milquetoast media member nowadays. He was a troll early on at CBS but I listen to him weekly and don’t really see how anybody could find him objectionable. Back in the day he was up there with Goodman but he was pretty adamant all last year that we could be the best team but Purdue had the best resume. He has been extremely complimentary towards us, like everybody else.

That team could have used AJ Price. One more ball handler and they win it all

Between Price injury in 06, Dyson in 09. That’s why we don’t have 8 in 25 years. Zero doubt in my mind
