Also this goes without saying but the notion that a Redshirt Junior Alex Karaban could possibly not start on this or any team is laughable.
It is laughable... You know, like a joke is laughable!

Alex wants to become one of the very few players in college basketball history with 3 title rings. Kareem. Walton, Laetner all had 2. No one has won 4.
All 14 players who have played on three NCAA Division I Championship basketball teams are from UCLA: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Sidney Wicks, Curtis Rowe, Lynn Shackelford, Larry Farmer, Henry Bibby, Steve Patterson, Kenny Heitz, Jon Chapman, John Ecker, Andy Hill, Terry Schofield, Bill Sweek, and Larry Hollyfield.

Regular Season Rotation:

Diarra 25 / Nowell 10 / Mahaney 5
Mahaney 20 / Ball 20
McNeeley 25 / Stew 10 / Ross 5
Karaban 30 / Stew 10
Reed 20 / Johnson 20

Bench: Abraham / Singare

30: Karaban
25: Diarra / Mahaney / McNeeley
20: Ball / Stew / Reed / Johnson
10: Nowell
05: Ross

The rotation gets shortened to 9 players for the BET so Ross drops out.
This honestly looks good on the minutes IMO. I do think you gonna see Liam playing at the 2

Riverwalk's nice.....
When you guys see the Alamo for the first time you will be shocked that it does not look like it did in the movies. But you will get over it as I did. I got my first look at the real Alamo when I was at Lackland AFB many many moons ago.

John Wayne wasn’t there either the day I visited. LOL

Mahaney is definitely more of a combo guard that will he out starting 2. Diarra is starting at pg with nowell as the backup. No way are we going to have nowell as 3rd string pg. Ball will backup at sg.
To start the season sure but eventually Mahaney will be the starting PG. Hes more of pg than Newton ever was before he got here and he turned out to be pretty good. Mahaney will be the PG here with Solo at the 2 and they will be explosive together. By March it could be the best backcourt in the country.

I have to think Hass earned the start over Ball. No? Ball was basically garbage time the majority of Feb and March.
Yes and different position. Mahaney is starting at 2. Ball will need to earn his minutes and i am sure he will.

He can play more the Cam spot. Diarra and Nowell will be our PGs.

Glad that Alex is back and I do hope that he develops his three pointer with us instead of struggling in the NBA. His lack of a good three point shot is what made him marginally desirable this year. That’s my opinion for what it is worth.

He wants to graduate and have the potential to do something no UConn player (and no CBB player in 50 years) ever has.

Plus I suspect he didn't get the guarantee he was looking for after the last-minute workout with Portland.

At the very least we should be in the championship conversation all year long, which itself speaks to our staying power after back-to-back championships.

Didn’t he promise his grandmother he would graduate?

I think Danny will eventually enjoy a backcourt of two combo guards who can both play point and shoot better than Diarra, who will come off the bench with Ball.
At forward, Stewart will not get equal minutes with two 40% 3-pt shooters.

First thing he talks about when asked about this years team is how elite Solo is gonna be scoring and he was one of the best shooters on the team last year. We all saw the bunnies.

I’m having a hard time choosing who I’m more excited about: Solo, McNeeley, Mahaney, Karaban v3… what a roster.

Hurleys lineup formula is not monolithic. He is very flexible in what he likes to do. Diarra i love the kid but i dont see him running the offense for 25 min a game and then handing it over to a fresh for 15 minutes. Solo is being overlooked and he is likely to take a big step forward and is definitely not playing pg as hes far to explosive to not take advantage of as a scorer and he will be our sg. Mahaney is also not going to be guarding opposing sg as he could struggle with that and at this point there is no CAstle to cover defensive short comings although i think Stewart could be that with his strength, length and quickness. We shall see as its a nice problem to have.
