Any updates on him? How's the Achilles? His minutes restriction going to be lifted? This guy is a huge facor in how well we do next season IMO. His defense as well as his ability to run the floor and finish behind the arc will be a major asset if hes gotten his explosion back.

No updates since the team is home. They'll be coming back to campus this weekend so maybe we'll hear something once Akok is back and working out.

We probably won't get anything definitive until practice really starts ramping up. It's boring, but no news is probably good news for now.

Akok Akok is both a 2021 and 2022 question. In 2021 I'm making the assumption that his hard work and eighteen months of time will get him back to 100% of his preinjury capabilities, and, with more overall strength. With our team depth his numbers are less important than just being there to step up when his game fits the matchup. Reclaiming 100% of his shot blocking prowess would be frosting on the cake. Now in the peak recruiting push for 2022 kids, it is Akok's predisposition to play or move on in 2022 which I have no read on. @Matrim55 surprised me this week with the RJ Cole expectation to play another year which reduces the 2022 recruiting list and changes the needs. By the end of 2021 Akok will have been at UConn 3.5 academic years plus 3 summers, and with the summer of 2021 must be close to graduating. If his health is back, does anyone know his expectations about playing in 2022, or are we apparently recruiting for his scholly?

Akok will remain a huge question Mark to everyone including himself
His injury was very bad so much so that there is a possibility he will have lost some of tha athleticism that was his strength.
The fact that he is physically fit is only step 1
What about his elevation and timing ?
Has he gotten stronger ?
Has he improved his shooting ?
No One including Hurley can answer you question truthfully until mid next year
Given this you could only wish him well.

Ugh My one hour free preview of FS2 just timed out with the bases-loaded.
 
The report from the summer won’t be out for a while, but it will say that Akok is working incredibly hard and has made tremendous strides. He is going to be the best player in the country at his position. of course, that will also be the report on every other player too. It will come from someone who has a friend who knows somebody who once saw an Instagram post that might or might not have been Akok, he can’t really rememher, but it might have been. The boneyard will take this news as gospel and immediately attack any of the pre-pre-season rankings that don’t have UConn #1. Don’t they even have instagram?

Chief will that appear and tell us what his buddy and confidant “Danny” thinks.
 
Akok doesn't need to be at 100% with his height and length for shotblocking. Just put him out there.

The Achilles? It will never be the same. He would be better off with yours. Let’s see what he’s got. Rooting for him.

Do the young find anything amusing? Aside from saying "OK boomer", which isn't amusing.

I don't like the speculation about recruiting over Akok. We already brought in Johnson at his spot. Akok is my favorite player on this team. I want him to become an absolute beast this year. To dominate. If he goes anywhere, hopefully it's the NBA because he just lead UConn to a 5th NC.
