By video, looked to be an Achilles tear. If so, a tragic, massive blow to the kid. Let’s hope for the best.

Just confirmed it on the broadcast. Dude is crying like crazy... feel terribly for him

We’ve been saying “when are we gonna get a break“ for a while now. And now this happens. It’s really unbelievable.

What is the recovery time for that type of injury?

SMH I feel bad for the kid and can’t help but feel snakebit with these injuries the last few years. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

Depends on strain vs tear vs rupture

they said torn on the broadcast... everyone is different, and everyone returns to the court with different degrees of comfort even after recovery. Doubt he’s playing any serious basketball for at least a year.

Is this confirmed? I see him on the bench with no ice or anything.

This sucks.

We roasted the last strength & conditioning guy and assigned him blame for all of the injuries that afflicted the Huskies. What about now? Polley, now Akok. Carlton has no lift. Genuinely curious.

First of all I feel awful for him. Hard seeing someone whose worked so hard to be in tears and have this happen.

Can we redshirt him next year and if we do does it open another scholarship? I’m obv trying to be sensitive with the injury but also curious how his spot can/will be filled?

Oh god. I really hope he is ok. Our players have had bad luck with injuries. This is getting to be too much. Gilbert, Larrier, Polley, and now Akok.

I'm pretty sure you know the answer to this. If he's out the entire year he still takes a scholarship.

Hoping for the best for Akok. Just stinks.

Hard to care about the outcome of the game. Hopefully he gets it repaired this week.

A year to play again. Usually 18 months to be close to 90% of what you were athletically before the injury.

Almost nobody returns to 100% of what they were.
This. He can see the court in about 12 months and will probably have load management for a while if he even plays next year (medical redshirt is on the table), but it’s basically the worst injury possible for basketball player. He does have youth on his side and he’s not very heavy.

This is a devastating injury for his professional prospects - let alone what he was going to mean for our program next year. He can certainly make it back but there’s not too many post-Achilles success stories in the NBA (but most of the players that have torn it have been 30yo+ like Kobe).
