Air Force Post Game Thread

Kudos to the D for knocking the QB out with a clean hard hit. I think he broke his hand.

I hope he's okay and recover from his injury. I hate it happened.

Yes good job breaking someone’s hand. I do not wish for injuries.

Playing football has a chance of injury. No matter what you can do to make any sport as safe as possible, people will get hurt.

Hope he is fine...

Don't feel sorry for them at all. Remember they compete with UConn in recruiting. Not sure NE can support UConn, BC & UMass. Liked it better when Mass was an FCS program.

If the rumors are true, Albany, URI and UNH (New Hampshire) are being looked into by the MAC. They want a few traveling partner for UMass, since Buffalo is the closet school to them.

I'm taking the rumors with a gain of salt, but it's an interesting time we are living in.

Let’s not forget - Fagnano was a benchwarmer until he wasn’t. People were done with him after less than two games of work in 2023. Now look where we are. And fwiw being a benchwarmer behind Joe isn’t anything to be ashamed of.
No, the point was that Fagnano was a productive proven QB at a level down

I think UConn can find a loophole and get Fagnano another year of eligibility. Maybe a Covid+ year.
Fagnano goes for his 8th year? Will he be an Assistant Professor next year. lol. On a serious note I think UConn’s starting QB for next year is not on the team yet.

I don't think we have our 2026 QB yet. Evers would be a huge step backwards.
Of course, in 2024 the consensus was that Fagnano should never see another meaningful snap at UConn. We'll see what happens in the offseason and root like hell for whomever gets the nod.

If Fagnano has "long Covid" can he get a 2nd COVID year?

He has already been in college for 7 years. Is it possible to get an 8th year? I guess we are at the point that players could stay in college until their 30 years old.

Based on what they are doing in basketball now maybe we can get an NFL backup. Does Tommy Divito have any eligibility left?

Here are some of the QBs that played in the NFL with eligibility. I would go after Mahomes. I heard he is good.

Cam Edwards was great again today. On that key first down on our last scoring drive with a screen pass to Bell, it was Cam making to block to free Bell. Cam was our offensive MVP today.
Also his effort blocking that let Fagnano get into the end zone (barely) on the opening drive.

Not sure which game it was, perhaps Ball State where we got a glimpse of Evers and a couple of others. I dunno, they looked pretty good. We have only seen that tiny glimpse but in that group I am thinking UConn could find a starter. We don't know what kind of progress they have made this year.

It’s the second or third time you’ve brought this up. Can you point to the genesis of this rumor (a link ?).

Chose Hamilton over the Huskies yesterday but eager to watch the replay.

I was nervous for a while earlier this season but thrilled the guys covered my over on 7.5 wins!

Courant’s Dom Amore brings up a fair point in his Sunday column:

Last word - Sure, the Heisman is a little overboard here, but in watching this remarkable season of Joe Fagnano’s unfold, bear in mind that one of the most valuable assets a football program can have is a reputation for developing quarterbacks in a pro style offense. It could get UConn more good ones.”

C'mon, you never want to see injuries. That borders on unsportsmanlike.
Okay. I don't know who the hell said you want to see an injury. But one happened, on a clean hit, and it happened to be a kid that was gashing us. I wasn't sitting clutching a rosary praying that his hand got broken. I doubt there were Air Force fans hoping to see Vincent Jackson assisted off the field. It is an observation that a player that was killing us was taken out on a clean hit. I think it was McClean that came up and hit him like he was tired of getting pounded on by this dude. Don't think for a second it was his intent to injure the dude. And yes it helped us yesterday in getting the win, that he did not come back in. No one has to wish for an injury to acknowledge that, that was how it played out.

Hating on Pindell is the most ridiculous take I've seen on the Boneyard in a while, and that's truly saying something...

Dude, your "OMG I'm offended!" act wears thin. There's no hate. There's simply consideration from my end on how Fagnano fits what Mora is trying to do perfectly. Pindell was a product of a different time. We can appreciate what he did then while also recognizing that what Joe is doing now is simply a better fit for the program - and what Mora is building is an actual program. See post #122.

So many thin-skinned wusses around these days.
