ACC votes to add Stanford, Cal, SMU: Conference presidents approve expansion to 18 schools

Greg Flugaur is reporting that North Carolina and Clemson are working together behind the scenes. This would explain why Clemson has been silent on FSU and has not joined them in suing the ACC. Flugaur said he is taking the L on this one. He originally thought Clemson would join FSU in suing the ACC. Instead, they are working with UNC behind the scenes on realignment. UNC is the primary target for the SEC. Does that make Clemson SEC #18?

“We just don’t feel that we should be regulated by no fault of our own"

Or relegated?
I thought the same thing…

The article has the non-typo full quote:

“We’ve been an Autonomy Five school and have resourced ourselves at that level for 25-30 years,” Schulz said. “Just because we were left standing in musical chairs, we just don’t feel that we should be relegated by no fault of our own.”

Remnant Conference: EAST - Syracuse, Boston College, UConn, Duke, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, USF. WEST - Tulane, SMU, SDSU, Cal, Stanford, Oregon State, Washington State. This is what happens after the Big 10, SEC, and Big 12 take what they want.

Ya know ,,, I think SMU will have a pretty good year.
FSU, at louisville, at stanford, at duke, pitt, bcu, at uva, cal. I think you are correct
also Nevada, HCU Huskies, BYU, TCU

When schools move up a level of competition, they seem to struggle. Last year, SMU had the #117 ranked schedule by Sagarin. UConn's schedule was ranked 85.

And for 2024...preseason, UConn is ranked #134...does that make a 11 win season a yawn ?

Bet the over this year on UConn's wins...

The schedule's preseason SOS ranking makes the schedule look very beatable if you put stock in such rankings.

I like the Huskies to win 9 or more.

SMU festivities on July 1:

Perspective is an interesting thing. SMU is planning to celebrate their self financed entry into a lame duck conference. FSU would probably host the same party for the announcement of a self financed exit.

Their stadium ticket sales are up 60% over last year....new cues are always exciting...that's why we love to travel...

Wow. The ACC would positively embrace Abe Vigoda as a conference moniker. He lived into his 90’s and was great in The Godfather. Long lived is underrated.

Posting here because no thread seems to fit it - ESPN refers to UConn (and UMass) as "and more" -

Yeah, but....they also put us with Notre Dame.

"With Army joining AAC in football this year, and UMass re-joining the MAC in 2025, we could soon be down to only two: forever-independent Notre Dame and UConn."

Lol...this is insane.

Their conference imploded. You want them to do what? Sit there? Join the American? Stop playing sports?
Fish as a guy close to the scene the distaste for the Big 12 was a lot worse than i thought possible.. When the ASU president was pretty much forced into it holding his nose and Utah is looking for an escape you know there was no choice for them .
However despite Louisville the ACC is a an excellent conference maybe the best academically which was the primary consideration for a top three school like Stanford and the number 1 public Like Cal . Being about the money is laughable.it was about academic image.
