The threshold question is whether or not our media partners would be willing to increase our media rights payments so that their addition wouldn't be dilutive. The answer, I am pretty confident, is no.

I didn't say those programs weren't quality, I said they were better in the Big East. Just as we would hope our football program would increase significantly in the Big 12 or ACC. Conference affiliation matters. I would wager St. Louis would get a pretty big bump joining the Big East and competing against neighbors Creighton, Butler, Xavier, Marquette, DePaul.

All these other conferences are lifting up lower programs from lower conferences and from FCS. That's how CR works. Not saying the Big East should expand, just that it may be forced to if it wants to succeed long term. And yes, I want out too.

I'm sure they won't.

I don't think that actually helps your position at all . While that may be true, no one is offering us based solely on hope. Likewise, we shouldn't offer anyone else based solely on hope.

(For what it's worth, though I expect it goes without saying, the University of Connecticut has hard metrics in its favor that the universities of Dayton and St. Louis do not.)

Pitino pushing the idea of lowering team share in the short run for long term deal potential is a LOT to ask, especially with all the possible movement in the P4 still looming. Risky.

I don't think they're merging with the ACC. I agree with Pitino it needs to grow for safety in numbers. Gonzaga and SDSU alone bring in quality programs. Oregon State gave us Gary Payton. That's all I got. Plus it gives us a football home.

Oh mother. You certainly can’t be serious. St John’s is a short term modestly successful program they has zero fit in either the B12 or the ACC. Villanova and Georgetown to the ACC is laughable. The conference needs a boost not a couple of has beens.

I think it helps my position entirely. I am not sure what metrics support UConn Football over St. Louis Basketball and I'm not sure it's relevant. We need a conference to believe UConn Football would thrive in a better situation just as we are sure it would. Same would happen with a basketball program not named DePaul. Here are some items in favor of the Billikens

• Rick Pitino mentions the Billikens. He's the guy that turned SJU around very quickly and somehow got freaking louisville into the ACC. He knows a thing or two
• Travis Ford - head coach
• Chaifetz Arena - nicer than Gampel
• St. Louis, MO - self-explanatory
• Big East - Much different conference than the A-10 15-member mid-majors
• Saint Louis University - in the Big East it would be 5th in enrollment and 2nd in Endowment. Perfect fit.
• Soccer

I think SLU would be very successful in the Big East. There really are no other options for the Big East if it wants to expand or needs to backfill.

Keeps up with the Jones’, creates power in numbers, satisfies low attention spans always looking for a new spin/rebrand. Grabs some eyeballs in new markets.

Stay strict to the regional model for travel, with some light rotating exceptions for rivalries, maybe at neutral sites middle of country in cases.

Run a round robin format where the West half kicks off in Chicago and winners come together for semis at MSG. East all runs through MSG.

Many of the other major conferences start as early as Tuesday.

Will have every Catholic eyeball from San Fran to Providence. Once the ACC implodes, grab Notre Dame for all sports sans fb.

There are probably 15 programs in the A-10 who would take a pay cut to join the Big East because the opportunity is far better. Tough to say Saint Louis brings no value when the Big East is paying DePaul and Butler.
