So no more tweets AND now we have videos with nothing to do with UConn? We need more threads. No they didn't discuss.

Sorry but rule 1 appliesSorry but the resolution of the FSU and Clemson court cases against the ACC, and changes to the contract between the ACC and ESPN could be very important to UConn's future.
Rule 1 went out the window as college football changes. We are not a team made of up Woodstock and Snoopy.Sorry but rule 1 applies
Well, it hasn't yet. It continues to be probably the most reliable prediction maxim out there.Rule 1 went out the window as college football changes.
Rick Pitino adamant Big East will ‘miss the boat’ if it doesn’t expand into mega conference
“I’ve been trying to get [the Big East on board], and obviously I jumped on your bandwagon with the suggestion that you had about combining with the ACC, because I’ve been trying to get them to start a super league basketball league,” Pitino said before St. John’s 68-62 road win over UConn. “And get up to 18 teams, 16 teams. Eleven is just not enough. And right now, a little bit like the ACC, we are not typical of the Big East of the past that was getting eight or nine, 10 teams in the NCAA tournament. So I think we are missing the boat if we don’t expand.”
"Pitino has also suggested adding schools like Dayton and Saint Louis of the Atlantic 10 and Memphis of the AAC."
“Now the presidents, most of the presidents and probably including mine, who’s a very knowledgeable basketball fan, they think about money, they think about the bottom line,” Pitino said. “And it’s like a company like Uber starting out and they’re losing, you know, $500 million a year, but they understand 10 years down the road they’re gonna be making a billion dollars. We just can’t see that. We can’t see that there’s a lot of money to be made down the road if we form a super league.”
“The coaches I think are in favor of a super league,” he added, “and I just think the presidents are against it.”

Rick Pitino adamant Big East will ‘miss the boat’ if it doesn’t expand into mega conference
A month ago, Coach K suggested a merge, as conferences like the Big 12, SEC and Big Ten have bulked up.nypost.com
Pitino pushing the idea of lowering team share in the short run for long term deal potential is a LOT to ask, especially with all the possible movement in the P4 still looming. Risky.Big East really needs to look in creating a position in the conference which looks out for the conference strategically long-term, can work the phones with television partners, media folks and others.
Hire a person whose job it is to look out for the conference needs.
It seems there could be 2 potential roads: Expand the Big East or merge with the ACC. Your expansion scenario looks good, and notre dame can take UConn's slot when UConn moves on.Pitino pushing the idea of lowering team share in the short run for long term deal potential is a LOT to ask, especially with all the possible movement in the P4 still looming. That's a good looking 16 team conference. Can call it the Big Weast.
The ACC/BE merger sounds tantalizing and I love the idea, just don't know what would motivate the ACC to pull it as a full basketball move. There are too many football focused schools in that group that would have organ rejection to the idea. Unless there is strong evidence of money moving hard in the hoops direction, just don't see that in the cards. It seems there could be 2 potential roads: Expand the Big East or merge with the ACC. Too bad Duquesne hasn't been better to add the Pittsburgh market.
I would love to see a realistic merger scenario but the ACC is seemingly set for at least 5-6 years.
Or just put someone into the commissioner's role that has those attributes?Big East really needs to look in creating a position in the conference which looks out for the conference strategically long-term, can work the phones with television partners, media folks and others.

I wouldn't mind swapping out one of those teams...say...UConn, and slot in BCU...then UConn can take a more appropriate place in the ACC while magnanimously permitting BCU to be with like-minded schools. Really a win-win for our football and basketball programs...'xcept I'd have to walk back all the bad stuff I said about the ACC.Pitino pushing the idea of lowering team share in the short run for long term deal potential is a LOT to ask, especially with all the possible movement in the P4 still looming. Now I understand how Alabama feels sharing a conference with VandyWould be happy to add those teams listed above if we tier our payout system. UConn shouldn’t be paid the same as DePaul.
No other BE team besides UConn has a shot of joining the B12 until Basketball is decoupled from Football (and even then it's only a possibility)I am going to say this now. Expand. If not, at John’s is gonna leave to big 12 with the “UConn package”, which is essentially all the money UConn would have gotten, all the markets, but they don’t have to play football.
Then, that will set off a reaction and nova and Gtown to the ACC.

While I don’t think St. John’s gets cherry-picked anytime soon, it’s true that the Big 12 could destroy the Big East by grabbing any combo of UConn/SJU/Villanova/GTown. Even if the pay is the same as the BE you’d make up for it in tourney credits and one less competitor in the basketball market. No other BE team besides UConn has a shot of joining the B12 until Basketball is decoupled from Football (and even then it's only a possibility)
The Big East is and will be at risk with only 11 members. It may still be at risk even if it expands to 16 or 18. Gonzaga is going to the PAC. Wichita State is in the AAC. Notre Dame in the ACC. No telling who what or when a P4 decides to pull the trigger on a basketball only add. And if Yormark could get his way he'd already have those Big East programs. While I don’t think St. John’s gets cherry-picked anytime soon, it’s true that the Big 12 could destroy the Big East by grabbing any combo of UConn/SJU/Villanova/GTown. PS: if it’s that easy then UConn would have their pick of a power conference by just saying football would stay independent
If UConn can't even sniff the B12 after going back-to-back and being a large state flagship then those schools have no shotWhile I don’t think St. John’s gets cherry-picked anytime soon, it’s true that the Big 12 could destroy the Big East by grabbing any combo of UConn/SJU/Villanova/GTown.
