I understand change is disruptive but Dallas seems to be closer to the physical center of the ACC now. (Obviously I'd go but Atlanta with it's air access and driving access seems possible.) I haven't done a travel time calculation for each team so that's likely wrong but why is it always where the same 7? teams are playing at home?

I know the ACC management will never let it move more than 100 miles away but as fan attendance increases I hope they consider it in a few years. It's a foolish hope I know.
Idk - I can’t imagine the ACCT in Texas! I get SMU is there. I get there are 2 California teams … but moving to Texas you are hoping that just general public shows up. Attendance increases in Greensboro because you have 4 charter schools all within a 1 and a half hour drive to the tournament. UVA, VT and Clemson not far away either.

I just don’t think the demand is that high for general public attendance like that when you put the tournament that far away. Technically that would be the middle of the conference but it requires a long flight from 17 of the 18 schools to attend. Dallas isn’t exactly ACC country.

The men’s has moved around to DC and Atlanta and that’s done ok. But I think it’s a little different with the men’s sport and also it still does best in NC. It’s largely an event that won’t get many people to fly to IMO.

In a perfect world, yes I think it would be cool to rotate and give other schools fan bases the opportunity to “host” and drive to the games. In reality I think it would be an absolute ghost town if they moved it to say Dallas one year, San Fran another year, Tampa another etc.

Most fans I know attend more spur of the moment depending on match ups and if their team is making a run and being located within driving distance to 7 schools makes that a real easy option.

Dallas might be the physical center now, but when the next wave of ACC expansion comes that will change. Adding McGill, the University of Toronto, and Greenland State will shift the center back to the east :);):p:D

Whoever is in charge of Duke Social media needs a raise.... This is fantastic stuff. Wow

Hey now. You sure you want to add McGill into this? While Montreal is known for awesome bagels and smoked meat, the need to understand Canadian French could be a turn off ;):p

I doubt that the ACC would expand in your suggested directions. Further I think the ACC should try to grow it's members and thus its revenue base. The speculation I've seen has not included the 51st state nor the Greenland purchase, yet.

Tulane, USF, San Diego State, UConn, University of Texas-San Antonio are the one I've heard. They would come in as all sports schools unlike ND. Then again the ACC needs to realize it needs to build revenues to remain or go by the way of Pac. I should add the sources for this are all speculative.

Shouldn't they strengthen their position out west? May I suggest Simon Fraser, or Univ. of British Columbia, or perhaps one of your favorites Alaska-Anchorage.

While watching Duke cut down the nets after the 2013 ACC tournament... I said to myself.. With Notre Dame and Louisville entering the conference, it might be awhile before I get to see my team cut down the nets again. Little did I know it would take 12 years to see it happen again.

That being said ....

I got a 5 year old unopened jug of Pink Lady Apple Cider from Perry Lowe Orchards (in the NC foothills) that's be sitting under my kitchen sink waiting for a special occasion. @Ladeeeeda you want a cup?:D:)

What!!!??? Cutting down the nets for winning a conference championship? How gauche.

You may be onto something here as they're already D2 program. Could be a easier transition. The roadtrips and the views of the BC mountains could be a selling feature.;)

I think to even out the travel, the ACCT should be held in Goodland, Kansas.

I've heard rumors that it will be in GA next year. Not sure why, but ihat is what I heard. Hopefully, it is just a rumor. My

Goodland does have the World's largest easel!

I hope it's not a rumor. Georgia would be fantastic for this event.

I have heard the same thing about Georgia. That makes no sense.

Atlanta is SEC Country. Attendance is gonna be horrible.
I know we are having fun with this and I assumed the locations were already set in stone. I was surprised to see that 2026 is TBD.

This was on the website:

ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament Dates & Locations

YearArenaCity
2025First Horizon CenterGreensboro, North Carolina
2026TBD
2027Spectrum CenterCharlotte, North Carolina
Jackie Carson, the ACC’s Senior Associate Commissioner for Women’s Basketball said that ACC coaches have long pushed for the tournament to rotate between different venues, similar to the men’s ACC Tournament, which has been hosted in cities like Charlotte, Brooklyn, Washington D.C., and Atlanta over the past two decades. The same article listed these possibilities:

Gas South Arena (Duluth, Georgia) – Located in the Atlanta suburbs
KFC Yum! Center (Louisville, Kentucky)
VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena (Jacksonville, Florida)
GreenCity Arena (Richmond, Virginia)—This brand–new arena
Greensboro Coliseum

My thoughts are Louisville would be objected to by many. As innovative as the ACC is (NOT) it will be in Greensboro.

I am with Triad on this. Atlanta is SEC country. Really don’t see GT bringing the fans and I guess I’m skeptical large contingents of fans will book flights and take off work for multiple days to fly in to ATL. Doubt FSU and Clemson fans are going to drive up in droves either.

Just feels like it would I’ll be heavily reliant on the general public being interested in college women’s basketball and while it’s growing in popularity I don’t see it being heavily attended. But I could be wrong.

Greensboro is right there for 4 charter schools and 3 of which have a pretty solid following and are generally good which makes for people in the stands.

The men’s tournament does ok in DC and ATL, better in Greensboro and Charlotte and was not well attended at all in Brooklyn. It sucks for the further away schools but the most passion for the conference is in NC, Va and SC. Get further away from the heart and attendance will dwindle IMO.

And it just adds spice to the event when Duke, UNC and NC State all have solid teams at the same time.

The last time I remember hearing someone claiming the ACC ran through them was a young man by the name of Armando Bacot. Less than week later DJ Burns ran right through him and walked away with that elusive banner Bacot never quite could capture during his long tenure in Chapel Hill.

And now Kevin Keatts has entered the portal himself.

Things change fast! I think I’ll go watch a replay of last years ACC tournament and final four run and ignore this years men’s tournament :).

Something that doesn't seem right to me when it comes to ACC conversations: Nell Fortner was largely praised for a 9-9 ACC record while Megan Duffy was largely criticized for a 9-9 ACC record. What am I missing?

Megan took over a shell of a program, while Nell has been at GaTech building for a while........

Last ACC team standing. Fitting for the ACC champs.

Congrats Triad and WBB...been a great year for the Dukies.

I predicted Duke to win the ACC tournament last summer (and I have receipts ) and I thought we could make it to a Regional Final but not a Final 4. We are playing with house money tomorrow.... we will see how it turns out. Either way.... it's been an enjoyable ride.
